Default VIN Number Assignment

Simple question: After you've ordered it, when do you find out what your car's vehicle identification number is?

I think it's assigned when or slightly after it hits 3400.

My TPW was 9/15 & it went to 3800 (Production Complete) on the 15th. I PM'ed Chevy Customer Service & got the VIN on the 16th.

Just waiting for shipment.

3400 is the earliest your dealer can get the VIN. The day after 3800 Chevy Customer Service and other dealers can get it.

I think the VIN is created at 3300 because 3400 is when the plant is told to make the stickies etc that have the VIN and go on the unit as it goes down the line.

And you need to ask someone or wait for the build to arrive at the dealership. I always ask because I do not have the patience to wait.
