anybody go to press the storage button to open up concealed storage and instead hit the start off button. what happens if driving and this is hit going 60mph. i did this standing still in driveway. just wondering if this is a safety issue, or has this happened to anybody else. will the car shut off while driving.
Are you serious? If you are you need to hold the start button for a few seconds while driving before it works. If you think you are pressing the storage button and the screen doesn't move get your finger off what ever you are pressing.

Can't say as I've ever had that situation arise....
Unless you are way beyond the limit for driving, don't see how you could hit the start button when you intended to hit the screen button....
but be that as it may,
I don't think it would shut down since the car's computer "brain" would probably reject the push on the start button as an extraneous signal since the engine was running...
and,
even if it did not, just push in the clutch and hit start again and it should fire right up!
For AT guys, well, no opinion...
For any scientists out there that want to experiment,
let us know what happened!
Here's how you turn the car off if not in park or if it's moving in a manual
If the vehicle cannot be pulled over, and must be shut off while driving, press and hold the ENGINE START/STOP button for longer than two seconds, or press twice within five seconds.

I did the opposite while attempting to start the car in dim light. It doesn't help that the start button is hidden behind the steering wheel. If you are daydreaming or performing the 'seat belt boogie' your brain may go to the only button it sees in front of you.

Sounds like you saying " hold my beer and watch this ".

I'm surprised at all the flack. It's pretty easy to do -- your mind/muscle memory is very used to pushing both buttons, and it's oftentimes your subconcious doing each (i.e. when you start the car you are also settling in and contemporaneously doing things like buckling up, closing the lid to your coffee, setting your laptop/bag in the seat next to you; and when you're putting your sunglasses away after parking, you are unbuckling etc).
I have definitely started the car after turning it off in the office parking lot when I meant to lower the screen and put my sunglasses away.
For this reason - I'm VERY conscious about what button I'm pushing on the freeway if I need to get the sunglasses out.
Personally, I don't think it's the greatest design. I'm a guy that will readily agree with you that you shouldn't have to account for every possible stupid thing that a consumer can do when you're designing a car -- but it would be nice to have a cover over the the ignition button, or the screen button relocated elsewhere.

That is exactly what I did. Went to hit the Start button and hit the screen down instead. Actually, the start button should be on the console like on the Jaguars,...
