Thanks everyone. Dealer actually called me an hour ago and said the car is ready to be picked up. They just need to install the spoiler on it, so tomorrow I finally get my new corvette.
Congrats Daemek,
Glad to hear that the dealer is taking care of the vehicle for you. Let us know how the pick up goes !
Also, in most cases (not all but most), the scraping noise is some flexible plastic air dams under the nose of the car. They do make an obnoxioux noise when they scrape, but they are made to be easily and relatively cheap to replace. Scraping them does not hurt the car.
Exactly! Inexpensive plastic air dam meant to be replaced. No worries.
I find that my C7 doesn't scrape where my C6s would. It's only scraped one time (that was an invisible speed hump). My '05 has the original air dam, and it's (the air dam) been scraped plenty (sometimes very embarrassingly so). Although plenty is relative when you consider the miles.
I want to lower the C7 as far as the stock bolts will allow. Next oil change. It's time to get an alignment, anyway.
I like the lower look, and the air dam is darn-near indestructible, and cheap, anyway.
So, never cared for corvettes before honestly, but I loved the new look. I ordered a 2015 coupe and hope to get it next week as the car has finished being made not and waiting for delivery. Anyhow, I have ppl keep saying that since I live on a hilly dirt road i'm going to have terrible problems just getting up and down the road. So, I did a little search and I do see problems reporting of the previous versions of the car scraping the front on speedbumps, hills, driveways etc. Has anyone had serious issues with the front end grinding into the ground?
My C6, scraped every time I left my driveway, but no big deal, it's the flexible, inexpensive plastic air dam. It’s designed to flex when it hits a high item. Never had to replace it in the 5 year old C6. I used sand paper a couple of times to smooth the rough bottom edge. Don’t get hung up with this minor scrap, it will happen from time to time!
My C7 does not scrap leaving or entering the driveway-as everyone has said it’s higher. After the “designed to flex’ plastic air dam, the next lowest item are two aluminum skid pads. You can put on an easy to install item called a FANG! I had scraped these skid pads several times in the C6 so bought these inexpensive easy to install products for the C7. Have never touched them in almost a year driving the C7! If you’re interested this is a link to a 5 page PDF picture install on my website made for typically none DIY folks: http://netwelding.com/Skid_Pad_Protector.pdf
May not be needed, but for ~$70, provides peace-of-mind!

Black Plastic FANGs Attached with Supplied Very Strong Glue and Look Like The OEM Finish
Coming out of my driveway my C5 scraped, my C6 scraped, and my C7 scrapes. All about the same amount. In supposedly does not cause any damage but it sounds like you are killing it every time.

Suggest you look and see if it is simply the plastic air dam making the noise, it which case you may have a frayed bottom edge. While you’re looking used some 100 grit sand paper and smooth it off!
If it really sounds bad you could be hitting the aluminum skid pads (although I doubt it would happen on all 3 Vettes.) See pics of my C6 below. If so suggest you install the FANGS mentioned in my above post #25 .

Hi,
We have the Fangs that Jerry at netwelding.com is talking about. They will prevent this type of damage. Also available for C5 and C6.
Nice write up and pictures Jerry!

I added wheels on my C5 but this time I had a ( trailer shop which hand builds trailers cut me 2 sheets of steel 1 ft X 3 ft X 1/4 " so I could lay them exactly rear wheel base apart and back down the driveway !!! I don't need them going up the driveway !!! See attached picture !!! Wayne
