Is there a way to set the C7 to default to Rev Match?
There have been a couple of times when I had not activated it with the paddles, like this week during day three at Spring Mountain. I was not fast enough with heel toe, sure got my attention.
Oh yea, I am new to the forum and this is my first post.
No. Trust me, you don't want it on all the time. I turn mine on and off per operating requirements. Works well down shifting 4th to 2nd, up-shifting over-revs and surges as you select higher gears above 4th. Rev match off when I use a lower gear to slow as I enter a turn, then car is setup ready to apply power out of the turn. Rev match does waste some fuel. I estimate rev match is used about 15%, percentage of use might be lower.

It's the first think I do after starting the car. I've only had the car a week though. Maybe that will change.
My C7 had a 1 year “birthday” this week, I use rev match all the time and also wish there was an option to keep it on all the time. There is not. Love it for part throttle downshifts. I have heal-toed (on more like toe side of foot) in my C6, much of the time. Did the same for my ’93 and ’87 as well as most of my other standard shift cars (even 2 trucks!) Easier, in my opinion, at higher rpm to blip the throttle. Not easy to get a perfect match at lower speeds or part throttle downshifts. Rev match does it perfectly. I don’t have a problem with upshifts as some have commented. Perhaps it is the speed of shifting or since I have an early build, perhaps it’s different.
Maybe my problem is bad driving habits. When in heavy traffic, I want to be in neutral a lot but rev match will give me throttle that I don't want as soon as go from first to neutral. Low-speed upshifts in traffic are similar, too much throttle. Had the car less than two weeks so maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I turned it off first time I drove in heavy traffic.

Perhaps I have not checked in traffic as I live in the country and our small town is 15 miles away and there are few times I'm in bumper to bumper traffic. There are a few times I do recall shifting from 1st to 3rd when in our modest traffic (even though I have a CAGS eliminator.) I also avoid one intersection when in town because occasionally have to wait for more than one traffic light cycle!
Over 10,600 miles driven on mine and I run with rev matching on all the time. Since rev matching lowers the RPM on upshifts, I don't understand someone saying rev matching will over-rev when selecting a higher gear. I have not experienced this and can only see it happening if you make the car think you are downshifting when you intend to upshift.

I tend to agree. I recall early on it was advised not to go into a gear you do not intend to use. Can’t reminder where I read that. i assume they were referring to going say from 5th to 3rd, something I do when coming from a 55 mph road and making a turn. With my C6 I might put it in 4th, not letting out the clutch then to 3rd. Assume with the C7 the Hall Effect sensor doesn’t know what you are trying to do. Perhaps the same if you skip a gear going upward like putting it in 2nd not letting out the clutch then going to 3rd. Have not experienced this over speed others have occasionally mentioned so just speculating.
I wish rev match defaulted to on all the time. When I forget to turn it on, I do not manually rev the engine when downshifting since I am so used to using rev match.

I agree. I have it on all the time and have never over-revved on upshifts.
It's does a lot better than I could do with my C6.
