To come out with a new color is a 2 year process so they wouldn't keep a color for one year unless it was a planned special edition (Carbon Flash, Carlisle Blue) or a big-time lack of demand (Lime Rock Green). The time and expense of changing out a color does not make it worth keeping a color for one year unless it's for one of the two above reasons.

LRG numbers were certainly a surprise. I think minus the 500 Premier Edition convertibles my LRG non-Z51 coupe is a rather low production quantity number. Big-time lack of demand can only be a factor of dealer orders when compared to the outage I've experienced at many car show/cruise-in's over this summer especially with the Kalahari interior. Although not a "planned" special edition the LRG 2014 Stingray coupe will be a special edition in it's own way. Can't wait for next edition of Black Book to see what the real deal is.
I have the LRG and everyone who see's it comments on what a beautiful color it is. When I tell them its been discontinued after only one year they can't believe it. They all say "Why would you quit making something that looks that good?"
It's funny that you say that. Most of us here see that brown tint (almost a patina) but 2 guys don't see it and thinks we're all nuts! We've also had a few customers who didn't see it but most do. It's funny how colors work like that.
The Kalahari interior really brings it out.

interesting. I was all set to get Cyber Gray, until I finally saw one outside in the sun. My eyes saw florescent green & blue hues; almost instantly took that color off my list. But like you said, many others don't see this.

I have large dual monitors at work and just today was noticing the SG Z06 on my wallpaper. The monitors are high quality and identical, yet one depicted a silver tint and the other one a slight brown tint - very noticeable from same viewing angle with same light. Might be the monitor settings, or SG is just a Magic color...:-)
I also saw a SG Stingray in person at the dealer and did not see any brown tint (inside but good mixed lighting). As an aside, the black wheels looked surprisingly great by my tastes. I love them on silver but not so much on CG.

I like LRG but I just wouldn't own one, a little dark for my taste.
Would you expect people to tell you the truth to your face? Only if you're in NJ or NY...

One could question why they would stop making the C7 in any color, as they all look good.
One of the colors was bound to be a the bottom of the popularity list (lowest demand), and a candidate for elimination.

I LOVE LRG in the bright sun, but I do think it looks too dark under all other conditions too. I wonder if they had made it brighter if more people might have ordered it? I know that Polo Green was very popular on the Vettes and the F-bodies back in the mid 90s. I had a polo green 95 Trans Am back then and I got a lot of compliments on it's color. I had always hoped for green to return on the Corvette and was hoping it would be closer to polo green. GM didn't learn from their mistake on the C5, as Dark Bowling Green Metallic was also very dark, almost like a second black, and it too wasn't popular. So why would they repeat history again? Dark versions of a color that are almost black rarely sell well.

Hmm, I had a Carlisle Blue C6. A very interesting color. I wonder how it would look on the C7?
I have a feeling I know which color will come up last, and I ordered it!
Daytona Brown?

Nope, it was not a surprise. It was predicted to be a one year color before the car ever went into full production. It was pretty much guaranteed to be a one year color from the start. Dark green colors almost never sell well on any car.

It may look good and everyone says they like it - but when it comes time to order, they don't. Greens (since the early 1970's when Elkhardt Green was #2 in sales) don't sell well for any automaker - its all about black, white silver and red; with grey and blue their distant cousins.

I was in the camp of those not seeing the 'brown tint' in the new Shark Gray until at Kerbeck's Toys for Tots Event recently. They had both SG and BS parked close to one another. With that the brown tint became more apparent to me. Not a bash and with a Kalahari interior it would look great IMO, and would be a unique combination. For BS, red is still my favorite.
I thought Cyber Gray was an exciting color. Lots of different sparkle in the sun. I saw Shark Gray and was disappointed in how it looks like primer. It is my opinion of course. If you spend your money for a car it is your choice. My opinion does not make your car payments.
