I agree with you. Every majorly re-engineered first year production car is bound to have a few bugs. Some clearly more serious than others. I believe the employees at BG are very proud of their work and product and that the BG QC folks are working diligently to correct problems identified in the early production runs.
As a retired QC manager for a fortune 100 automotive ralated manufacturing company, I am a quality fanatic, and I understand how it works.
I recently traded in my 2012 2LT Convertible with 30,000 trouble free miles on it for a 2015 Z51. My 2012 C6 was one of the best quality automobiles I have owned over last 50 years. I would be surprised if the first C6's didn't have some bugs too.
That is one of the reasons I waited for the 2015's. Mine was ordered in July, but had to be reordered and then delivery changed from Museum to dealer. It arrived at closest rail head Friday and my dealer thinks he might get it my Monday or Tuesday. I CAN'T WAIT!
Well , now that you are here , have you heard it all about our beloved corvette . From C1 to C7 the whining and complaining is unbelievable . Every time I get on the C7 forum I read about plain unhappiness with the vehicle , the paint isn't perfect , I think I hear a noise , the trim isn't flush and on and on . Is the C7 perfect , probably not but I think it's a wonderful car and a joy to drive .
From the first time I saw a corvette I knew that was the dream for me . I have now been living it for years . When I sell one , I have to get another one . Every time I have been in between vettes it was a mistake . I have to come back and when I do I love it . I have had a few problems with my C7 but I wouldn't trade it for anything out there . Die hard corvette people live with the little things . Is anything in life perfect , probably not . So the next time you want to go on a rant about that little rattle , think hard , do you love vettes or did you just jump on the C7 bandwagon and is everything I have so perfect . Orange peel or not , I am corvette forever as long as god sheds his good graces on me .
I am fortunate and I am sure most of you here are . So if the C7 is driving you nuts for that little squeak or the a/c condensation making noise on your exhaust get off the forum and have fun somewhere else . I am sure there is a car out there for you that is perfect and never has a problem . You know who you are and I am sure you will give me your $.02 . In the meantime , enjoy your vettes , life is short , so don't sweat the small stuff .....

I have to agree with the whiners. My brake "pops" first thing in the morning, the detail is definitely not sharp, there is bloating in the middle and a sharp loss in power....oh wait, that's me I'm describing!
Whatever happened to the oddities that made a car have personality? My Corvette and all the components within are man-made, meaning they won't be perfect. That's OK, I get to smile every time I drive her, and so far, one year in, no problems. I think this car is so well-engineered, and with the computer designs and robotics to assemble, the issue of first-year problems is a non-issue. (Feel free to flame me here).
We get to drive a car that is the envy of most everyone, and while a very few have serious problems, most complaints are only minor nit-picks. (Flame away again).
Even the vaunted Ferraris and Lambos have serious issues, and the Porsche GT3's have a propensity for self immolation. I don't see Chevrolet sending us a bulletin to stop driving our cars immediately. These C7's are built tough, and an absolute blast. Enjoy being one of the fortunate few.

Exactly. Every car I've owned had some little quirk(s), Personality is a great description. Certainly there are differences between real problems and nit-picky annoyances. I choose these battle carefully.
I'll save my concerns for something of real importance, like personal and family health issues. Everything else pales in comparison.
Let me see if I understand you: If I have a problem or concern about a possible malfunction or defect I'm supposed to get off the forum and have fun somewhere else. Am I understanding you correctly?
My car has been great, solid, no problems to complain about. But one value in the various complaints to me has been getting an awareness of some things that might help me avoid problems later. For example, I would not have known about the oil overfill situation if I hadn't read the many posts about burping, catch cans, and all that good stuff. As a result, I added less oil when I changed it myself.
Anyway, I think the posts about various problems are fine if kept in perspective. We can learn something from them as I have been doing.

I thought the post spelled it out pretty well and I can see you don't agree with me so let's just leave it at that ......
To the OP,
I appreciate your passion and respect your opinion, but the point of all car forums is to discuss cars...the bad as well as the good. Anyone who has a bitch babout their car has just as much right to post said bitch as you or I have the right to post any of our thoughts, either positive or negative. And you, along with everyone else, have both the right and ability to read and comment and/or not read and comment on any thread. Hopefully most of us are quite content with our vehicles, but there are those of us that have had problems and, for me, i want to hear about the bad as well as the good.

I want to hear about the negative also but some take it to another level .....

For me both as a current owner of a particular corvette model or as a perspective owner I find far more value in reading about problems that owners have had or are now having and how those problems were resolved if they were than the posts bragging about how people compliment them on their car when they are filing their tank at the gas station.
I have owned 25 vettes and by far the one that I received the most comments and crazy amount of attention with was a brand new 68 convert in the fall of 67. It was the 5th new first year C3 convert delivered in the country and so when I first got it the attention to the car was unbelievable but in truth that car was the most trouble prone and poorest build quality of all the vettes I have owned to date. Sold that one after only 9 months of ownership.

Maybe your point wasn't as clear as you think it was. Regardless, I was in full agreement with you until I got to the last paragraph of the original post; at that point you lost me.

Every car has it's issues. Just check out the other car forums. The fact that we love our Vette's, regardless of generation, is just a sign of our passion for the car.
I hope as many as possible real world experienced defects owners actually encounter get posted here. Good to know both the strengths and potential problem areas.
Also helps if something similar happens to one of us, we may have already heard about/read about it, and possibly know what the best remedy is (often before dealer techs have even heard of the issue).
if $60,000 is chump change for u yea u r right. but we r not talkin about chevy cruze here. this is chevy's flagship model. blown engines and oil leaks for few month old flagship car is def not cool though.
BMW had to replace quite a few 2001 M3 engines due to bearing issues. Despite that, the S54 went on to win "International Engine of the Year" in the 3- to 4-liter category for six years running.
Porsche replaced the engine in 785 991 GT3s, due to the self-immolation of a few cars while the owner wasn't thinking about random engine fires, obviously. Road & Track thinks "it might just be the best Porsche ever," which is no small feat.
To sum it up, **** happens. Chevrolet is taking care of the owners - and that's the most you can ask for. It's not cool, but early adopters take that risk.
