Use the heel of your hand (placed in the center but near the edge of the lid) and slam that sucker down.

It will get easier as the miles pile up. For me, it was about 5000 when it started getting looser. I say looser relatively. My '05 with 200,000 miles still needs to be slammed to shut. My '09 only needed gravity.

Not really an issue. IMO. Although, I can see how it might be a concern if you are not used to how it works.

Tells me that GM found a fancy way to open the vents, but they still did not make them large enough..
As I put in Post #20, after a year I still need to have my door open, then it closes with one finger from the side! I can slam all I want using the GM handhold and it will not latch- period. As mentioned even adjusted the hood stops to the point of misalignment-will not latch! (Refer to Post 20 for details but do not push closed from the center of the hatch frame!)
GM hipped that “Memory Wire” feature, sounded high tech, good press, but didn’t work for air tight cars (I have checked my vent-it is working.) My hatch seal is as soft as a baby’s bottom and after a year no better. Not really a problem, just have to think thru when to close the door! Happiness is a tight Vette!

I just leave a door open. Mine takes too much of a slam and forcing it after is asking for paint cracks IMO.
