Really not an issue but a feature of a well designed car. Aren't you glad the body is sealed well enough that air pressure inside the car can keep the trunk from closing when you half heartedly close it. Reminds me of the old VW Beetles of the 50s,60s and 70s. Couldn't close a door by slamming it because the body was sealed so well. They even put them in water to show how well the cars would float.
Corvettes have been sealed that well since the 97 came out.
My trunk doesn't close all the way unless the window or door is open any body else with this problem ?
I close the trunk lid to the point where the latch just rests on the striker. I then place my hand on the trunk lid and firmly push down. It has worked every time for me with the windows up and the doors closed.
I checked out a 2013 gently used 7 series BMW M sport edition last month. You just gently close the door or trunk until it clicks and it pulls itself closed. Pretty trick ($90K). I had the same experience with a new Jaguar XFR-S ($100K). Then I test drove a gently used 2014 SC XKR with DCT and paddle shifters: 5.0L, 510 HP, good power but heavy and a little squirrely in the turns (75K). All really luxurious cars. Then I saw my Black 2014 Z51 3LT, MSC, duel roof, chrome wheels with 6AT, sitting in the showroom with no sticker on it (demo 240 miles) and immediately traded in my 2012 GS for it ($66,755 with supplier pricing)... Best decision I ever made, even with the hard to close roof!

Are you trying to tell us that the cheaper car is better or you that you can afford six figure cars? I'm confused with what this has to do with the original topic.
Even if the weatherstripping is a little tight, if the hatch closes easily by dropping with the door open, then if the GM high tech vents were large enough, it should also close by just having the vents open...
Tells me that GM found a fancy way to open the vents, but they still did not make them large enough..
I just place my elbow on it and press down. Very easy and no slamming.

Have had my car for a year and still need to have my door open! Some cars are so tight the “Memory Wire Vent” (that you can see operate it you remove the license plate and look in the large hole behind it) it’s big enough for a tight car! I did that to see if mine was working properly, it is. Some cars can and some cannot latch no matter how much force is used! Forget that video, it has been around for a year, yours either does or doesn’t latch! I have tried from high and low and all force levels. Even tried adjusting the hatch stops to a point where it was misaligned-no latch! It closes so easily with the door open. In fact I can stand just behind the open passenger door and with my right hand gently push on the corner of the hatch and it shuts and latches fine-very little force. Then I close the door with mu left! Just tried today with a lot of force using the handhold (because the door wasn’t open)- no latch! It latched, as usual, by just letting it drop when the door is open. Unlike my C6 (and many other cars) that had an electric pull down to latch, the C7 uses a memory wire activated vent- it is not large enough for some cars. Do not push in the center of the hatch to latch! Folks at a museum pick-up were told there have been reports of paint cracking. A large dealer was quoted as saying ~20% of the cars he has sold had hatch paint cracks. The first time I tried, a year ago, I saw the hatch frame bend so never did latch it that way. Folks at the museaum pick-up were told to push with two hands near the glass edge where it is peaked to latch.
I just keep a door open. Just have to think thru the process. If you’re getting into the car and will put something in the hatch, open the door first. If you’re leaving and will get something out of the hatch open the door first then open and close the hatch before you close the door!
