Noticed today the back end portion of the rear hatch seal is completely off and hanging. I'm disappointed at a car this expensive and only 4 months old. Anyone else have this problem?

I should have added, I hope not. If this is an uncommon problem I will not be as concerned about the quality of the car.

Marksman,
Sorry that your rear hatch seal has come off. I understand the displeasure when dealing with a matter like this. Although you're seeking opinions from others, I'd be happy to communicate your concerns with the Customer Experience Managers (CEM) at your GM dealer of choice. Please know that you're welcome to message us privately if you would like to discuss this further, or if you simply want this matter documented.
I've taken the complete hatch weather-strip off my C7 when I installed sound deadening materials so I could take the interior panels off. I've also removed and installed several similar weather-strips when painting cars.
The good news is that this is no big deal at all. Here are a couple of fixes:
* The weather-strip is held in place by a 'compression' fit. Since the material needs to be flexible to make corners, you can often take the area that has come up and 'squish' the binding material on the weather-strip together with your fingers (you'll know what I mean when you turn the weather-strip over and look at it from the 'bottom'. This will often work to close the compression gap and when you re-install it will stay.
* You can use 3M weather-strip adhesive (they make it in yellow or black - maybe some other colors too) on the area that is coming up. Use it sparingly as it holds really well and you might want to remove the weather-strip at a later time.
* Sometimes a weather-strip gets a bit 'sticky' on the mating surface (hatch in this case) and this stickiness can pull it up. After you use one of the fixes above, a light coating of a silicone spray or grease (spray or wipe the grease on a shop towel and wipe it on the weather-strip) will prevent the strip from being pulled up again. Just use the silicone sparingly.
Hope this helps.
