Default Curb Alert

What luck have you had with this product? Went throught install today and no beep when I started car. Must not be a surprise to the vendor. Since the next part of the video says "if you don't get beeps do not continue. Bummer now I have to put all the car bact together so I can drive it tomorrow. Bad for them since I am meeting about 50 other Corvette owners for a Veterans parade and I will be sure to share with them my experience with the product

Yes, I agree - installed right they work great - I admit it took two tries to get it calibrated but after that it worked great - have 9,000 miles on the car now.

I have installed around 10 of the curb alert units on C7's and 15 on C6's! I installed them on my own Vettes and friends in our Corvette Club. I only had issues with one! The wire in the Speaker was broken, but the supplier sent a new one immediately! Check to make sure it is grounded properly!

Great product. Sometimes when dealing with electronics the device will come out of the box inoperable. Send it back they will make it right with you I'm sure. Heck it happens to TV sets ae we'll.

Default Had the same problem.

Contacted the Supplier. They put me in contact with the manufacturer. It appears to be one of those product that was developed by an individual who saw a need and developed a product to fill that need. Anyway he was a great guy to talk to, walked me through some trouble shooting. We came to the conclusion that the control unit was bad. He wanted me to be completely satisfied and overnighted a whole new unit and did not want the other returned. The control unit was bad so now I have an extra speaker and sensor. That's great service and it works great.

Installed mine last weekend. Works great. I did notice that the system seems to stay active approximately 20 minutes after you shut off the car. If you restart the car in less than 20 minutes it does not beep on startup. Longer than 20 minutes before restart, and it does beep.

Maybe I am mistaken, but that's what mine appears to do. It could explain why you are not getting a beep when you start the car up.

very true...two other things that are not generally known:

1. minimum calibration distance is 12 inches, no less
2. if you lose the front sensor for any reason, system will alert you with continuous beeps.

Was also directed to manufacture and am awaiting replacement parts. Response from manufacturer was excellent.

Glen, i remember going round and round with the supplier on this a while back where they never showed it being installed on a C7. Is there a youtube video or instructions for folks that are not wanting to rip apart stuff to get it installed? Not sure how much work it is to do this etc.. Also, i have to have a front license plate, so not sure if that causes an issue.

It's really easy and takes less than an hour. I don't currently have a front plate but it doesn't appear that would be a problem. I'm sure someone else can elaborate on that.

Make sure you clean the foot well under the dash with alcohol or the provided tape won't stick for very long. I made this mistake and had to add some extra tape later because they kept falling off.

Thanks for the replies. Who are you guys buying this from? I read on Amazon that somebody said one supplier was not selling a C7 one because it did not have the fuse holder on the power terminal. The video does not show it on the red power cable, but Glen's directions does. It says you can cycle the power by pulling that fuse, but the video doesn't have it. I just want to make sure i buy the correct one.

I have a bunch of Amazon gift cards I am trying to use... So, want to buy through that site if i can.

I bought mine from RPI Designs (forum vendor) and used their 10% off coupon code. It was pre-packaged specifically for the C7 and came with the red inline fuse/cable. The video doesn't show or have the inline fuse set up. I connected it to the red power wire and then the power terminal at the fuse box. See photo below.

I got mine from Southern Car Parts. It came with the inline fuse but it was not in the video or even the instructions that came with it. My guess is that the fuse was a later addition.

Mine came from CorvetteMods. It included an in-line fuse.

Thanks for posting the picture Da Hawk. I also got the red fuse cable with no instructions, so I left it out of the set up. System works great, but I would like to install it if it provides additional protection. Could you please elaborate on your install. Did you cut the original red cable and add the fuse cable inline? Thanks in advance.

Basically, every electrical circuit in your car should include a fuse. Any electrical device you connect directly to your battery should include a fuse on the positive side of the circuit between the battery and the device being installed. This avoids a short in the wires which could cause a hot spot starting a fire. The fuse is your insurance policy because the fuse blows before the wires get too hot.

The best place to put the fuse is in the circuit between the positive battery post and the end of the red positive wire.
