I'm contemplating trading my 2014 z51 next summer for a z06, but can't get a dealer to give me a solid estimate on what my trade will be then. It's a frustrating risk to order a z but not know if they will low ball my trade in.any dealer knowledge able people know what I might expect as a trade value a year from now.?

The dealer can't give you a solid estimate on your trade because much can change in a year! He can only give you a solid NOW figure.
I did a NADA on my 2014 Z51, mag ride, dual tops, pro Exh., 7sp, 2LT with NAV, and only 2000 miles . Clean trade $54k. A 14k drop in a year. That hurts.
Just wait until next summer to get your trade price and then decide if you will move forward with the purchase or buy it now and they will give you a price.
How in the world would you ever expect a dealer to tell you what your car will be worth a year down the road? It is not reasonable.
It's really not a 'frustrating risk'. It's a given that most dealers will low ball you. Nothing personal, but they are a business aiming to make a profit. They will also likely sell you the Z06 at msrp. So the real question is how much $ are you willing to part with? Could be anywhere from 20-30k. Work from that perspective then determine if it's worth it.
Another view point............ find dealer who will order the Z for you without any obligation on your part. Yea they are out there. My dealer gave me my numbers on July 13 for the trade and a handsome discount on the C7 which showed up in October. He did not require a deposit and said you either love the car or walk.
I offered to bring him the 13 GS early figuring he could sell it in the summer for more $$s then in the fall here in Ohio and he said why would I take your Corvette from you, drive it and enjoy it!!!
So ask your dealer or PM me and I will give you my dealers name.
BTW now when I trade with him........ we never discuss numbers. I know its a good deal and the numbers are not that important........he gives that much comfort in the deal.

Welc ome to new car depreciation. Once you drive it off the lot, its never worth as much unless it is a very rare type vehicle.
It's impossible to predict what the retail or trade value will be in a year, especially for a new model car. It's unreasonable to expect a dealer to even make a guess at it.

If you are worried about a low ball price be prepared to be disappointed. Corvettes depreciate just like any other car. If you want a Z06 that bad you will have to expect this since the demand will be high for this car at least for a year.
Except leases do that every day...Millions. of them.
Except that's not trade value.
And, trade value alone means absolutely nothing. Everybody gets hung up on trade value. When you trade a car the only thing that matters is the difference; how the dealer gets there doesn't (or shouldn't) matter. Getting hung up on just the trade value is not a smart way to make a deal but it's what almost everybody gets hung up on.

Steve is right. Tell him the difference you want a let them worry about how to get there.
Where do you live? If you store your car for the winter trade it now. This assumes you trust your dealer - only you can answer that. Draw up a contract in writing and make sure all terms are explicit. I did something similar when I went from C6 to C7. Worked well for me and I avoided considerable depreciation that occurred to the C6 when the C7 was on the street.
