My son-in-law uses a 2010 Sierra 2500HD for his contracting business with 60,000 miles and the warranty will expire in two months. He took it to the dealer because of a ticking that sounded like a lifter. They replaced the entire valve train under warranty...did that lessen his confidence in the GM engine? Absolutely not. It bolstered his opinion that GM builds as good a vehicle as you can find and they will stand behind it at their expense.

I guess you mean genetic, not generic.

As for my Stingray, I have had it exactly one year and have 12,000 miles of trouble-free driving.

If you're afraid of having an engine replaced on a Corvette under warranty, it's not a wise purchase for you. There are a few options out there without recall issues related to ignitions, fires, air bags, tires, etc.

Same here, my daughters Cruze has 98,700 miles on the odo. Gearbox lost 1st and 4th thru 6th. GM did not bat an eye, vehicle is getting a new transaxle under warranty.
