Default Build Code

I've been waiting to hear when my C7 is scheduled to arrive. I just received the build code, but that's all. Anyone know what the heck it means?

Build Code: SGFQCT

thanx

It's actually your order "number". This is the code that is used to track your order's progress. I just checked and your order's event code is still at 1100 which means that your dealer has entered the order into GM's system but the order hasn't actually begun moving yet. Once your event code hits 2000 your order is moving and you know that your car will get built.

That number is the Order # when the dealer created the order for your car. It will stay with the Corvette all the way through production to delivery to your dealer. By itself, it does not tell you much. Ask your dealer to provide the Orderworkbench report for your car. Under Model/Order Information, you will find "Event Description." If the number there is 1100, it means only that the dealer has created the order and it may be a while before your Corvette is produced and delivered. See topics on this forum that talk about these event status codes, what they mean and how constraints can affect your order. Best of luck to you.

Is there another GM site that will provide us with the information of where our build code is?

Can you supply a website link or provide that info via a PM to me.

I have not gotten any response from GM Customer Service posts via the Corvette Forum. I have requested the info twice with no response.

Thanks in advance for your time.

Your dealer can pull up your status with a few keystrokes. He can then either print out the full OrderWORKBENCH document, or save it as PDF file and email it to you. A good dealer will have no problem with this. After all, you are spending close to 70-90k on a Chevy, they can at least keep you informed. My last two vettes, the dealer sent me a weekly email as well as a copy of the OrderWORKBENCH anytime the status changed.

If your dealer is unwilling to do this (and that should tell you something,) you can go to this thread

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...ng-thread.html

Give them your order number and the state of the dealer. In a day or two, they will get back with your status. Please follow the guidelines in the first post of that page and don't request more than 1 update per week and give them a couple days to respond.

Unfortunately there is no public site where folks can check their event codes. I went to the customer service tracking thread in this forum and grabbed your order number; unfortunately, your event code is still 1100.

Mpuzach:

Thanks for the reply. Can you advise myself and for the benefit of others how this process of ordering works?

Once the order is placed by the dealership (1100), where does that order go (direct to Bowling Green?)?

What is the process from one step to the next. When the order is accepted by GM, who accepts it, a regional office or the plant in Bowling Green? Detroit?

It would be nice to know the process for a basic understanding of the order code system.

Congrats…maybe…..start reading about allocations and constraints, you may or may not be getting a car, depending on the dealer.....

think of it like sending a UPS package - at code 1100, he wrapped the package and sent it on his doorstep (order input @ 1100) but no telling when the truck is coming to pick it up...He's called UPS, but they have not said when they would come by........it could sit on the doorstep forever...depending on his allocations. This site is littered with people who went to a small dealer, he told them he would get them a car, took their money, and he has no idea when he's getting a car for them. He just tried to "lock you up" in the process. Some poor souls even give up their trade early.
:
just remember an order # does not mean much - you are looking for code 2000 on this workbench order....he can pull the report below for you 10 times a day if you want...until it says 2000 in the red circle, you really have nothing, a car is not being built for you. And notice how my name is on it, not the dealer name:

DONT DEPEND ON FORUMS OR THE CHEVY SITE TO UPDATE YOU, MAKE YOUR DEALER WORK FOR THE THOUSANDS HE IS MAKING OFF YOU. After you deliver, you will get a survey, if you burn him, it costs him huge money. Tell the sales manager - not the sales guy - that you would love to give him good marks, but if you can't get info on where your car is in the process, you’ll have to give him less than perfect. It works more often than not to slap him into line. They think you don’t know about the survey at this point in ordering….

What Glen e said plus:

The entered order sit until GM allows your dealer to proceed. Allows = allocation.

GM in Detroit decides how many allocations will be distributed and to whom This is order acceptance = 2000. GM does not accept an order unless it believes it can be built.

The order then goes to Chevrolet to determine which factory can assemble it. (This = 2500) This process is for all GM not just Chevrolet AND though the Corvette is only assembled in one plant AND though that plant only assembles Corvettes (currently) other GM vehicles may and often are built in one plant and in some cases more than one plant builds a particular vehicle line.

2000 and 2500 often occur within moments of each other but may take a day or two to go from one to the other. From what I can tell all this takes place in Detroit.

Factory accepts order = 3000 and that likely occurs at the factory.

The regional business center has little to do with the ordering process.

I looked at your posts. You made one request on Thursday and one on Friday. As mentioned in the 1st post of the Customer Service thread, this is a voluntary service provided by people at Chevy CS, it usually takes a day or two, and the system is down on the weekends. You risk becoming the forum equivalent of the little kid screaming "mama, mama" over and over again.

As I and several others have mentioned, your dealer is the best source for all this information. They can give you your status anytime you ask. If they are unwilling, or your salesman doesn't know how to use the system, that should tell you something about your dealer, and their trustworthiness, customer service ethics, and abilities.

I am on a steep learning curve with 1st C7 or any Corvette ever owned. I am dealing with a large volume dealer. I had thought the service was almost instantanous on request. I am sure that when you first started flying your learning curve was the same, assuming your an actual FDX pilot.

There is an excitement about having the C7 built. GM used to have an independent website for order tracking. All you had to do is just insert the order code and get the details. It was so easy, as I had this done on my 2012 Camaro RS order.

I am not here to offend anyone Mike, and not here to cry out "mama, mama" as you suggest. Everyday I learn new things here on the C7 Forum. I am not the only person who is excited about the arrival of the C7, nor am I the only one on a steep learning curve on the C7.

Thanks to everyone for their input on this forum. It's about helping other C7 owners to make the experience knowledgable, learning about the car itself, and having some fun, not criticizing them for asking questions, seeking information, or just learning how the order process works. Everyday in life becomes a learning experience.

Now I have a basic understanding on "how the order system works".

2000 occurs Tuesday and appears in the general server the next morning. I believe the ordering dealer can see the 2000 status sometime on Tuesday - at the point in time the change occurs - but do not know for sure.

bluman,

That is the only jump that has very little to do with GM and everything to do with if your dealer has allocations, as well as if those allocations include constraints that you may want. If he is out of his allotment, he will most likely not get ANY allocations. The bigger the dealer the more cars he sold last year, the more allotment he recieved at the beginning of the model year, the more allocations he will get... the smaller your dealer the less likely you are of going to 2000. If you want a 2015 and your dealer has no allocations call Robert at Kerbeck, he and Dave will help you out!

The dealer knows his allocations, but may not be truthful with you...

...btw the last day to customer order a car is 26 March. If by then, as I understand it, you order is not at 2000 or greater you will not get a 2015 ordered you will have to wait until June to order a 2016.

After you hit 2000 it is like Glen e says, it goes like clock work based on when your hit 2000, then it will be backed up from your Target Production Week (TPW) as far as climbing from 3000-3100-3300-3400-38-- which is when you car has been built...

If you want more info PM, I will send my number and can talk you through what I have learned so far.

BTW I am at 3300, I expect 3400 this Friday, and I have a time of 1300 next Monday to watch her drop onto the trim line and watch her become a car...

Hope this was helpful.

Thank you for this information. Placed an order on Saturday, said they would have the order # on Monday. Called them earlier today to get my order # and see what event code it is at. Had to leave a message and I am waiting for them to call me back. I am hoping for 2000 and not 1100.

I went through Kerbeck so I know they have allocations. I'll be nervous until it hits 2000 since I have some options which are on constraint. Kerbeck said it wouldn't be a problem but I'll be more comfortable at that point.

You can go here and chat with GM on the status.

https://chat.chevrolet.com/chevy/

I've been tracking mine since 1100 from there. Currently at 3400!

I Got this note Sat.

Here is your Final Corvette order SKXXBS that we went over with on the phone earlier today. Please re-confirm that the options are 100% correct. Your order will be at status 2000 (accepted by GM) on Tuesday and you won't be able to make any changes after that point. Please look line by line about your order. Now is the time to ask so we don’t have any mistakes on your Corvette order.

Can I assume although today is Tuesday it might be to early to check. Normally I am not anxious, but I was rejected at another dealership after holding my deposit for 4 weeks, so to say I am gun shy is an understatement. Now can I assume if it goes to 2000 I am, going to get the car ????????? Thanks A Million !!!
