I've been pulled over 3 times (in 35 years) with a detector mounted in a visible location. Only one time resulted in a ticket and that guy was going to give a ticket regardless. He was indited a few years later for getting kickbacks from the local judge on every ticket he issued. To be fair, on one of the other 2 times it was dark and the officer might not have noticed the detector.

Most agencies still use radar. Some use both. Red Light cameras are the big thing in South Florida. It is not about running a red light, but what about "rolling stops" on a right turn? We have all done them!!
