Default Gauges not working

Went out to lunch this afternoon and everything was fine. Jump in the car to head back to work and only the nav screen came on, HUD, analogue gauges and LCD display were not operation as well as the steering wheels controls. Restarted the car a couple times and finally the LCD screen and steering wheel controls started to function, but the analogue gauges are still dead.

Now the question is, do I drive this thing to the dealership or is there something I can do in the parking lot at work? Has anyone had this issue?

You can try disconnecting the battery for a moment and then reconnect. May help like a reboot.

That's the problem. At work and don't have tools with me.

Bucknut2006,

I'm sorry to hear about your gauges not functioning properly. I understand how displeasing this would be and realize you're seeking opinions about it. However, if you'd like to consider getting an official GM diagnosis, please message me privately as I can reach out to the dealer's Customer Experience Managers (CEM) for additional assistance. If you'd like to contact us privately, we'd be happy to discuss this with you further.

You can just pull the fuse, wait a few seconds and replace. I've had to do that a few times now. No tools required.

2015 is #25 if I recall correctly. They are labelled in the manual.

Well, I waited until after all my meetings and restarted the car and now everything appears to be working. Not a gremlin that I wanted to experience, but hopefully its' a one time thing.

Buck,
My friend has had the same issue 3 or 4 times on his 2015 but only if he opens the hatch first.
Mine will not fail by opening the hatch first.
Did you open the hatch?

Personally, I think GM programs a few of these gremlins into some of the cars just to give us old pfarts something to obsess about.

Well, what luck. Wife and I took a trip to Bowling Green to visit the plant and museum. On our way home, stopped to look at some restored military planes and of course the car decides to act up. No screen, gauges or steering wheel controls again. Took it to the dealership in BG and after 30 minutes it all started working again.

Going on 2 weeks for me, no problems after the first time. I did remove the battery cable but it was on tight to begin with so I feel certain it will return at some point and a fix will be issued if enough complaints are heard.........I know a trip to the dealership is worthless at this point but they need to know.

There's a recent software update that may address the issues described here. Last week, after two months of flawless operation, my car evoked a blank screen and shortly thereafter the screen stuck on the incoming call view after a phone call was finished. I cleared both by hitting the Menu hardware button below the center screen. Both of these symptoms are described in the software update:

Doc. ID 4104798
#IP1436
PI1375B

Fix for "Blank Display, NAV Screen Audio Content Unavailable via Speech Recognition, Display Screen Stuck on Incoming Call View After Phone Call Finished."

I have an appt. with the dealer tomorrow for this update and a first oil change. The former sometimes takes a while to complete, I'm told, as much as two hours. When I talked to the SM last week he was aware of this update.

Thanks for the info, I do have an oil changed schedule here for tomorrow with my normal dealership. The Bowling Green dealership wrote up the paperwork and acknowledged that the issue happened and said they would help.

Had the fix PI1436 done according to my documentation. Hopefully that fixes the problem for good.

They also did Mobil 1 for the oil change without hesitation. Glad it was a smooth experience.
