Default A8 Question

I know the auto will downshift with the paddles and I assume the lower gear will have engine compression to slow (the same way a manual shifted to a lower gear uses engine compression to slow) My question is: when race/competition mode is selected and the paddles are not used, will the computer use engine compression to slow when braking hard for a corner - will the computer use engine compression with each lower gear during the braking? Thanks to anyone who knows.

I don't have mine yet, but on the test drive I didn't detect any compression braking caused by the transmission downshifting. I assume you are talking about what you feel with a manual when you shift to a lower gear at higher RPM. When you brake to slow down, and then hit the gas, it seemed like you could feel the transmission downshift as a result of the braking, but it just seemed to be in the right gear for the speed and engine RPM.

When the transmission has downshifted on its own when it thinks I'm driving "aggressively", it felt the same as manually downshifting. The lower gear / higher RPMs slowed the car a little. If that doesn't answer the question, please let me know. I can experiment, etc. Thanks.
