"The '16s will start arriving at dealerships right around Labor Day which is quite awhile from now. I see no reason to wait for a '16. " mpuzach
Mike, does that mean that production is changing from historical date(s) of orders beginning around end of May, production end June/begin July? I realize first two years were different.
Why not wait for a 2016, it will be a year newer than a 2015, but then again, why not wait for a 2017, it will be a year newer than a 2016. But if you wait for a 2018, it will be a year newer than a 2017. and on and on and on...
From what I understand, the allocation process for the base models has changed making it easier for smaller dealers to get one as long as they are selling Corvettes. I'm beginning to think it might not be the allocation, but the constraints that are holding up orders. It took me a few weeks to go from 1100 to 2000 because I ordered the painted roof which was on constraint. It took the dealer that long to get an allocation for it.
The computer historically accepts new Corvette orders in May, and dealers can start using allocations in June. Start of regular production early August and dealer deliveries before Labor Day. There are exceptions such as July starts late in the C6 model life and the most famous being the February 1983 start of the 1984 model year.
Wondering if we will a Grand Sport version of the C7 in 2016.
A exterior panel change here or there, special paint, badging, and some nice interior appointments (a comp seat with contrasting leather, Z06 type steering wheel, badging, etc.), could ignite a few more sales without too much effort.
The C6 certainly looked refreshed in the GS dress.

Howdy Bill - If I remember correctly, GM began accepting orders for 2015s the last week of May (2014) but production didn't officially begin until the week of August 11th. (It's my understanding that a few '15s actually came off the line late in the previous week.) It was just before Labor Day that those first cars actually arrived at dealerships. I'm assuming that the same timetable will be followed this year but it's just a guess on my part.
