No roof no car! Would not want to be stuck with just the lexon top!
That was what I was faced with. If I did not take the clear roof, my order may have been bumped to a 2016. I took the clear roof and now I have my C7 after a 7 month wait.

Is it because you are north of the border that you waited 7 mos ? About 90 days into it I do believe I'd have bolted for Jaguar.

Yup, same thing for me.
I had the parts department price out getting the standard roof and the parts were $3000, not including assembly and paint. Very annoying.
Your dealer is the problem. If you wanted to avoid the allocation issue, you could have ordered your car through one of the high-volume Corvette dealers and probably gotten a better discount too.
I ordered my C7 with painted roof on Dec 1 and it's scheduled to be produced next week.
Since you're so committed to working with your dealer friend-of-the-family, maybe he can get you a better deal on the painted roof ordered through GM parts.
