Why in the world would you drive a new C7 in a upstate NY winter?
Yes, in the middle of a upstate winter a Woman driving a a white coupe passed as I was pulling out. WTF I thought, as I drove behind her with all the salt on the road. I was thinking to myself why would anybody do this? I pity the poor sole who unknowingly buys this car after a CNY winter on it ! Salt+Aluminum = Bad
I really hate it when they spread salt on the roads, talk about harming the environment. I personally will not spread salt, preferring sand when applicable. I currently operate a 2004 four wheel drive Colorado that does winter duty. I purchase this vehicle new and have watched it slowly rust to pieces. Currently it is so salted up, pitiful.

Do you ask the same question when being passed by an Escalade?
I don't know, still in dis-belief. Did not realize people drive new vettes as daily drivers (at least in NY) My first thought was to flip them off but realizied it was a woman.
Driving a RWD 450+ Hp sports car in the snow is dumb, regardless of whether it's a garage queen or not. The arguements to the contrary are hilarious- super duper winter tires notwithstanding.

Thanks for insulting me and some other owners here. And I hope to run into and see if you gonna flip me off for real. Your opinion is confounded by your conflict of interest. You don't drive your precious in the winter.
One can say it's dumb to drive any car in the snow without proper tire. And you're making the rule about 450hp + being he cutoff. Why? What's your evidence that this is bad. I get more traction in my 460 hp vehicle on proper rubber than the soccer mom in her minivan AWD on bad tires. I can take off better, corner better and stop better. Also put a moron behind an AWD car in a poor conditions he'll still drive like a tool.
References: 6th winter and counting in the Midwest. Cheers.
It's her car and she can drive it whenever she feels so inclined.
If she wants to park it out front, fill it with dirt and plant flowers in it, that's her business!!

It truly shocks me how many people just don't understand this. Assuming ground clearance isn't an issue, there's no reason not to drive your Corvettes all year 'round assuming the proper tires. Hell, the Corvette engineering team does it; they test in the UP of MI with good tires and they have a hell of a time. Why not do the same?
ETA: The vehicle I usually drive in the snow has way more torque than the C7 does. Does that mean I shouldn't be driving it in the winter?
Won't drive mine in the snow, but I sure can't knock those who do. It's their car and they can drive it however and whenever they want.
That being said, I don't pack my car away for winter. Anytime the temperature is above 30F and no snow is predicted, I'll get it out. If there's a little salt dust or sand on the road it's no big deal. I just wash it off when I put it in the garage.

Really? Complaining/criticizing how someone else utilizes THEIR Corvette.
I guess this thread ranks right up there with why others keep low miles.

Even dumber is someone from California or Virginia driving a Vette on snowy, icy roads. Stay clear if you see a California, Florida or Virginia license plate on a snowy road. I learned to drive on Minnesota roads, that was great experience for surviving tough road conditions.

Salt is a deal breaker for me but I'd never criticize someone who chooses to drive their vette in the snow. I just hope they are smart enough to have the proper tires on their car.
