Are the cars equipped with Performance Data and Video Recorder.
if so does the school use them
or can you bring a memory card and record a few of your laps?

If they did that would be the way to go. Not sure how to guarantee that unless I call them and they say they've ditched all their '14s.
I signed up for the 3 day event June 1-3. The 3 day seems to be the most popular. I like the advice of the knee pad, even when I drive my knee hits the speaker when I do sharp turns.
Looking forward to June!!

Called the school last night and spoke to a Jenifer Shaw who said cars are equipped with recorder and I could/should bring out a memory card.
I'm guessing that periodically they update the fleet.

I was just there Jan. 21st and most all the cars had the memory card and they said they were working the 2015's in now and they all had them. Bring a card.
I'm going to Spring Mountain in a few weeks for the 3 day and was curious what I need to bring so how about a checklist on what to bring from those of you who have been there.

Nice! Thanks for calling. I'll be taking a Harry's Laptimer setup as well. I've needed a phone mount anyhow and the software is cheap.
I took the 3 Day course last week. Awesome experience.
Driving shoes not necessary... But thin soled narrow shoes are a must. No wide soles otherwise you'll find they interfere with the peddles. I used a sketchers shoe that worked great.
Polarized sun glasses are a good idea... You will get glaring sun at various times of day... It can be distracting.
Knee pad is a good idea. I used an elbow support on my left arm and this helped for me... It does get knocked up against the door at times.
Go pro is a must. They sell them if you don't have one. Spare battery is a good idea. Keep wifi off (it eats battery life). Also learn how to do your settings. I mounted mine on the glass roof (inside), above the passenger head rest... This got a view of the driver, dash and out the front window. I used a suction mount (best way to go) and set the camera to flip to image (since it hangs upside down). The exact same setup and mount can be used on the windshield, just to the right of the mirror. One thing... If you mount So it shoots the dash and out the window then you need to adjust your settings to compensate for the exposure... My inside shots were good, but the outside image was a bit overexposed. This can be corrected in the settings. When you mount on the windshield this is not an issue. Remember also, wherever you mount it you want to be able to reach the start and stop button... You'll need to do so a few time to save battery and space.
Best suggestion I can give relates to attitude. Bring an open mind. Forget what you think you know and listen to what they teach. Treat the course as a learning experience, not a competition. Concentrate at learning the techniques... The track... The car... Your own abilities. The instructors are masters at what they do and what they do is teach. Follow those suggestions and you'll get better... Every track session... Every day. As you get smoother you'll get more comfortable and you WILL GE FASTER.
I remember a point on day 2 where I started to think I was nearing my limits... Felt a bit uncomfortable because it didn't feel smooth and I felt ragged and stressed. I was concentrating too much on speed and not technique. I took a deep breath, reminded myself I didn't HAVE to keep up with anyone... So I took a step back, slowed down a bit and concentrated on the techniques. Started feeling more comfortable... Started hitting my marks... Got smoother... Got faster 😉
Smooth is fast... Fast is smooth.
By the end of day three I had a grin from ear to ear.
Loved it so much I booked myself for Level 2 this December. Can't wait!
The C7's are replaced regularly with new vehicles. The staff puts 1,500 miles on them to break them in, then they get setup for the track and go into "service".
When I was there last week, most of the fleet was 2015's so the PDR system was available to many drivers (just bring your own SD card).
Unfortunately they had still not received their 2015 A8 autos, so the autos are all still A6 2014's (no PDR's). I was told they were expecting a shipment of @ 70 new C7's, including their new 2015 A8's and once those arrived the 2014's should be rotated out (and sold off).
I'm really looking forward to my next course and driving the A8 😜

Great to hear about the PDR availability. I don't have the PDR. Is it something they have configured already for the track or is there a bunch of setup each time?
Just signed up for the March 30 - April 1st
Just in case any of you will be out there.
Can't wait
How did you manage that? I called end of last week and the earliest available 3 day class was August 31st. Since you have to take the class before your one year anniversary, that was my only choice because the next available 3 day class was November 9th.
Do you need any special 32 gb SD card for the PDR?
Or will something like a SanDisk 32GB Extreme UHS-I U3 SDHC Memory Card (Class 10) http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc..._uhs_1_u3.html work.
I am going Spring Mountain in 3.5 weeks and don't want to have the wrong card.

I've been using almost the exact same one in mine with no problem, except I got the "Extreme Pro" version, which has the faster read/write speed. Of course, its more expensive. I see no reason why the slower version shouldn't work, but if no one can confirm it does and you want to be 100% sure, spend the extra few bucks on the Extreme Pro version.
FYI: I didn't have to reformat them or anything, they worked straight out of the package.
