Default C7 Driver passed away

A 52 year old C7 Z06 driver lost his life in a high speed wreck Sat. Jan. 31 near Pine Bluff, Ar. He left the road at a high rate of speed and hit a tree and was thrown from the car. His 26 year old passenger (male) was thrown out too but survived. These cars are stupid fast and driving them at a high rate of speed should be kept on the track and not on public roads. Thoughts and prayers for the his family.....

What a shame. Concerning if the driver and passenger were wearing seat belts.

News media did not say if seat belts were used. Not sure if they knew. Can't tell by the pic and will not post the pic but the car was torn up pretty bad.

Here's hoping when he got to the other side the 26 year old was a hot blonde goo goo over him and they continued to their destination together.

Yes indeed. The lame excuses for not wearing them are incredible
  • They’re too uncomfortable
  • They’re too slow to put on
  • I’ll be trapped in a fire
  • I’ll be trapped if the car goes into a lake

Tracks are where you want to go if you need to drive fast. Not only do you threaten your life but your passengers and other drivers on the road for a cheap thrill. Most of us learned that when we were younger when our friends died needlessly racing , going to fast, drinking and driving. It's very sad that for a moment of indiscretion your life is gone and so many others impacted. Such beautiful cars, the guy or gal behind the wheel has to respect that power though.

However, keep in mind that the same thing can happen if you're driving any car stupidly as well.

condolences. Let's see when ppl come and say "look at all these cry babies saying don't do this stuff on public roads"

I don't wear a seat belt while working as a cop. I literally changed my rule about that yesterday. My excuse was what if I get in a shooting or I have to bail and I can't get out in time and the car becomes my coffin with bullets in it.

I attended an Advanced FTO class and we talked about seatbelts. Reality is, my chances of getting in a wreck vs getting shot while i'm in my car are alot higher. I've changed my strategy to make sure I always have a seat belt on no matter what. I'll start practicing getting it off when I'm about to roll to a stop on incidents.

in civilian world, I ALWAYS have my seat belt on. That rule changes as a cop too now, and hopefully I won't get stuck in my car with bullets flying at my windshield while I have my belt on. (it's very hard to duck with all the gear and a seatbelt)

wear that belt guys. All ejections I've seen where from people not wearing seat belts. Also seen babies and little kids get ejected because some people put them on their laps when they drive. bad idea. nothing like seeing a 2 month old that was ejected from a bad crash because they didn't sit in a baby seat properly belted.

I don't know the details of what happened. But, when I read the words "high rate of speed" my reaction is "Oh Well". Thankfully, he didn't take anyone else with him.

Also, the comment above about the deceased resuming his relationship on the other side with a hot blond was not funny. But, actually was a dumb comment.

Default not a track

Do people think because they have a vette the street is suddenly a race track? Maybe people will stop asking ridiculous questions like "Should I get the z51 or the z06" when they have no intention of tracking the car. This car, stock .. it STUPID fast. 0-60 in less than 4 seconds. I think that's fast enough to drive around town and/or get yourself killed by thinking your Mario Andrertti

Very sad news.

From the looks of the car, it appears to have been a Z06. Check out the SC on top of the engine.

These accidents are doubly tragic because they almost always involve passengers too. When there's a passenger onboard -- especially someone who hasn't ridden in the car before -- there is a huge temptation for the driver to show off and impress the passenger with the car's phenomenal speed and handling capabilities, both of which more often than not exceed the driver's driving skills!

Bunch of judgmental ****** around these parts…. You'd think some of these people were actually at every corvette crash, in the drivers mind and able to give facts why it happened to so and so and why this or that, hahahaha!
