Default Side Marker/Reflector Swap

Hi,

I did a search on this and could not find exactly what I am looking for so hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.

I sent out a set of front/rear side markers and rear bumper reflectors to get professional smoked and should be getting them back any day.

Are there 'how to' threads with instructions for side marker and reflector removal?

Alternatively, can someone tell me what is involved in doing this swap?

Thanks.

Your pic is perfect for this. To do the right side unscrew the screws that hold the liner in place and peel it back from the top. You'll se the side markers from there. There are two squeeze clips you need to squeeze to push the light out from the outside. Then there is a blue clip that you'll have to push to disconnect the power wire. Once disconnected, replace with the LED version, or tinted version. The same for the back side markers.

Thank you for the explanation ... presumably this will be easier if I remove the wheels first?

Any idea on the rear bumper reflectors?

It is easy to do ---- You don't have to remove the wheels - just be careful to not break off the three plastic tabs that attach them to the car --- they are quite fragile

I removed mine to replace them with clear side markers

Make sure you check with the local codes. Certain colors are required by law.

I put clear side markers on my Benz 4 years ago and was warned about it not passing inspection because of the color...fortunately, its passed every time without a question. Clears are the way to go. IMHO a much cleaner look. Good luck.

You don't need to remove the wheels, just turn them to the inside so you can access the screws easier. Pull back the fender liner, and squeeze the ciips from the back and it pops right out.

There's no yearly inspections in SC, tint laws are relaxed, and cops for the most part couldn't care less. They might notice someone with a PnP HID kit in their reflector housings or completely blacked out tails or headlamps, side markers not so much.

Thanks everyone for the help, it seems pretty easy so I'll give it a try as soon as I get them.

But no one knows what the deal is as far rear reflector removal?

yes, pop the plastic piece out (and undo the bolt on the bottom of the bumper that holds it - it's the innermost bolt)

then remove the two screws that are revealed behind the rear tire.

then push the fender liner back and reach in there, stick your tongue out, and squeeze the three (not two) clips that hold the unit in place, push it out, unclip the plug and then just plug in and pop the new one back in.

Hold on HB, I think we may have our wires crossed.

The rear reflectors shouldn't have a plug, they don't have any electrics going to them right?

I'm not talking about the rear side markers I'm talking about the reflectors under the tails.

Thanks.

Oh the rear reflectors....sorry. Yeah, I just put some stick on tint on there, from RPI I think.

No worries ... but I still need someone to tell me how to swap those reflectors out.

Thanks.
