Default How-To Tuesdays: Breaking in Your Corvette

Picture it. You've just picked up your brand-new dream Corvette from the dealership, and you want to celebrate with a cloud of tire smoke that would embarrass a Georgia-thunderstorm cumulonimbus. Not so fast, Hoonigan. You're forgetting that you have to take it easy those first 500 miles.

Or just read the Owner's Manual that comes with every new C7.

Yeah, I know, nobody does that.

Haha. Yeah, that's the first thing they mention in the full how-to article.

I'm still amazed that people will spend upwards of $75k and not read the owners manual. Especially on such a gadget-heavy car.

That's why we have a brand-new staff of how-to editors in the office.

Promise that you'll fire the next one to post something about the Zora mid-engine C8 or some other silly-assed Car & Driver drivel....

Reading the manual is way too easy.

Default Audio CD Manual

My 2004 GMC Envoy had an audio CD that walked you through the features on the car in addition to the owner's manual. For all its advanced technology, seems like the new Vettes could have something like that.......

I know the C5 had a video that walked you through the car. Really in-depth and boring at times but useful knowledge.

The article won't be read just like that manual thingy the put in the car somewhere. Bet that yellow vette runs just the same as one babied for 500 miles.

Reading a manual is like admitting defeat, just like asking for directions when the sat nav screws you over...

Good one.
I do like to read the owners manual, especially on the crappy days that I wouldn't get the Vette out.

I read the whole owner's manual as soon as it was available online, and a few times after that before I even bought my C7 in October of last year. That said, I did not follow the "prescribed" break in method in the manual because I have broken in plenty of new cars, bikes, quads, etc. using a different method and trust my experience.
