Does anyone know if you can disable the auto dimming function of the side & rear view mirrors?
I saw a blip in the manual that they are auto dimming, but didn't see anything about disabling them.
Thanks
Don't think there is anyway to disable the auto-dimming feature (at least without doing some hack)
Thanks, I was afraid of that. I wanted to disable them because of the window tint I wanted to put on. I'll just go with a 20%. Still will block the UV.

I don't understand why you'd want to turn dimming off. Even with tint, it's no big deal to see what they're showing
It seems like this bothers more than a few owners. I don't mind it as much at night, but at twilight, it dims so much that it literally turns the mirror black, making everything invisible.

Thanks owc6, just what I was looking for. As everyone with a C6 knows, it was able to be disabled by the button on the mirror. Personally, I don't care to have it dim. I prefer to make that selection.
Everyone has their own opinion.

I have tinted windows 5% It no longer works. The light doesn't get to the rear view mirror and they don't turn on. Even if you only do the back with 5%.

Which may be why KenHorse (among others) never has a problem, and can't understand why many of the rest of us have a very big problem.

if the head lights turn on they do or that is my understanding....then when they are on they respond to the external lighting/or not which is why you don't notice it??
This function on the c7 is one thing that isn't as good as the c6 mirror...imo but I like the looks of the frameless mirror better...
I've only noticed that on one occasion, I was still wearing my polarized sunglasses. When I removed them the mirrors didn't appear black anymore. Is it possible you were wearing same?

I got out of the habit of wearing polarized sunglasses when I got my first C6. I couldn't see the HUD, or the Nav, and all the windows were splotchy. Definitely, not that problem, here.
Perhaps not all mirrors dim to the same degree, or the tint has some effect.
