Great looking car, congrats! Lucky to find one close to home. I had to go 260 miles just to find a dealer with allocations that I could order last year.
I was going to do that but had issues with that method. I have only one car at the moment and when trading in a car the policy appears to be that the quote is good only for that day, so in two months when the new car arrives they may take off $500 or even more. I could get the car and then sell the old one, but my two-car garage is set up for only one one car and one motorcycle at the moment and I didn't like the idea of leaving it outside. That would mean that I would have to sell my old car independently, and I really didn't savor that idea if I was getting a good trade-in allowance, which in this case was about as much I could've gotten independently with the sales-tax credit added.
Second, as of 2/2 the price increased on coupes by $1k, so I had an incentive to find one already in stock or already made and en route.
Only you will know if you will miss a manual trans. What trans would you have gotten if you were to have ordered the car-If you say a manual, hopefully you were not dazzled by the car right in front of you.

I would've ordered an M7 without hesitation and, yes, I was dazzled by the car I saw on the dealer's website, then more so in person. It was in the back of my head to try something different after 35 years of owning nothing but manuals, so this car pushed that notion more into the forefront. So far I think I'm okay with it, but don't like the lockouts like not letting me out of the car until I put it in park. The workaround is to put it in service mode, but it leaves the DRLs on while in neutral. I often need to push the car back a few feet, like to enter my attic, and this car will make this a multi-step procedure. I'll get used to it, and if the A8 isn't for me I'll trade this one in in a couple of years like I did the C6.
BTW, I'm already thinking about my first mod, shown in this Photoshopped image. The chrome just doesn't seem to fit on this car that has only a smattering of chrome anywhere else on the exterior.
I too chose the Torch Red. Added Skirts, splitter and tint to windows. Also to side and rear markers. Still want to get rid of chrome bar in front. Blacked out look is awesome. Congrat's on your new ride!
I noticed. Looks quite familiar. I like the carbon flash mirrors and spoiler with the black badges and black wheels.

On one of the threads about blacking out the grill several have used electrical tape, which to me sounded not only tacky but a short-lived solution. I tried it tonight and find that it looks pretty good and seems sturdy enough, but time will tell. Plasti Dip or one of the third-party vinyl strips are other solutions. I'll keep it on and see how well it holds up and whether I really like the look or not.
I was getting my TransAm serviced this weekend, and there was a Corvette exactly like the ones in your pictures sitting there, same color and everything. It didn't even have a license plate yet. The guy got in and turned it on. Man, it was loud, and powerful sounding. Off it went. Made an impression!
