Terrible orange peel on my 15 Laguna Blue Z51. It is covered up in the garage right now, but I know come springtime I will be crazy again. My 14 Silverado has perfect paint, no orange peel, drips, runs or factory repairs. If this situation at BG cannot be fixed, this may be my last Corvette. Shame on all the reps and quality control people who don't care.

I accidentally brushed the '15 Tahoe against a metal rose trellis by the garage and put a couple of really shallow scratches in the front bumper clear coat. I got out my buffer and some polish and they came right out. But what I noticed was the sheer thickness and consistency of the clear coat. It's very noticeably deeper than the Vette...you can actually see the clear on top of the color.

Why can't the Vette be painted this way?

It truly looks like it's been hand buffed and polished.

Chevy CAN do a great job at painting. I just don't understand what's going on in Bowling Green. It's befuddling.
The Tahoes are made in Texas. Different robots, different engineers, different material surface, different ovens, different everything.

I am not a spokesperson for GM so I cannot go into detail, all I will say is: You're welcome for your beautiful Tahoe, glad you like it!

I think a big part is the materials... the Tahoe is metal vs. the Vette being a mix of various composites from ABS plastic, to carbon, to SMC.

Guess I lucked out because my Vette paint looks like glass. I'm sure someone with a trained eye will spot a flaw or two, but few people will look at my car with that critical of an eye.

Regarding your car if it has to be on a sunny day where the sun hits it at just the right angle to see it then I wouldn't worry about it.
