Anyone have Lashway side skirts with painted carbon flash? If so, how we'll does the paint hold up to small road rash? How many miles since install? Appreciate any feedback.
About 5k miles on carbon flash lashway skirts and splitter .......are fine. Its paint, nothing more so its just like your front end. My leading edge is xped'd, many xpel the whole thing.
Most of the "Side Skirts" that are available from vendors have predrilled holes so that you can attach the Side Skirts using 3 OEM GM washer screws behind the front wheel and 2 OEM GM washer screws in front on the rear wheel.
These vendors also have pre-drilled holes in the side skirts so that IF YOU WISH, you could secure the side skirts further by drilling into the composite material or use an industrial strength double sided adhesive tape.
From previous posts here on the C7 Forum, some owners have choosen to drill holes and use either metal rivets (requires drilling a 3/16th hole) or plastic OEM GM scrivets (requires a 5/16th hole) or using double stick adhesive tape.
It really comes down to your personal preference what to use. (Personally I choose to drill 5/16th holes and use the plastic push in scrivets for extra security and stability).
If you drill holes and decide to remove the side skirts in the future, most likely the holes would not be visible as they are very low on the car and somewhat on the lower side of the rocker panel.
There are various vendors who sell "side skirts" ranging from $389.00 per set in Fiberglass including shipping, up to $799.99 in Carbon Fiber.
What's good is the C7 owner has many choices of securing the side skirts, & choices of purchasing various styles of side skirts made from various materials, from Fiberglass to Carbon Fiber. (Personally I purchased the Z06 style in fiberglass, I painted and installed them myself for $389.00 shipped to my door).

Hopefully this post helps other forum C7 owners.
Great post! Much appreciated.
1. Are the 5 OEM screws you mentioned adequate to secure the skirts on their own?
2. Which double stick tape is recommended? If removed in the future does it harm the paint?

Doc:
1) I used the 5 OEM GM washer screws, (takes a 7mm socket or spinner to remove and replace). I felt I wanted additional security and stability, so I drilled additional holes to secure the side skirts. Most side skirts have pre-drilled holes, so you simply drill thru the pre-drilled holes into the composite. If you don't drill, then there is about a 24 inch to 36 inch gap between the OEM GM screws. Also the 5 OEM GM washer screws are on the underneath side of the skirts. Drilling or using the double stick tape will adhere the side skirts to the side of the rocker panels, not the underside. I really wanted the skirt that lyes against the side of the rocker panels to be very secure.
2) Honestly, I cannot answer this question.
However since double stick tape is an adhesive, I am sure that perhaps Mineral Spirits, Lacquer Thinner or Acetone would remove any adhesive once the tape is removed or pulled away. Acetone will eat up gummy tape residue quickly.
Hope this info helps answer your questions and helps other C7 owners.

While I didn't use them for side skirts, I've used 3M body side molding tape on a whole bunch of applications with excellent results. You'll have to go to an automotive body shop/paint supply store to get it.

Checked with a buddy of mine. 3M exterior tapes can be found in general auto parts stores, and works very well. Look for the Scotch-Mount super strength ones. Derivatives of both meet GM specs for exterior attachment tapes.
I still have a roll for a long time ago that I use on occasion, got it from a supply store. That roll is the exact same stuff that OEMs used.
Thanks Steve, yes my kit does my need to drill holes and unlike most of the kits, my rocker aero flares out with the rear fenders to not only look wider but also protect the paint.
I have one set of carbon fiber rockers in stock available to ship immediately.
I definitely want to add side skirts, primarily for rocker panel protection. But I am very hesitant to drill into my new C7.
Are there any that install using pre existing mounting bolts?
It’s only the first hole you drill in your new C7 (or your new Vette of any year) that is traumatic! After the first small hole it’s easy! If you want a tight fit rivets near the outer edge work fine. Pics show what my carbon fiber side skirts look like when finished and a sketch of what you’re drilling into. It’s not the frame it’s the plastic rocker panel. Hitting the side skirt with your foot when exiting is something you need to watch. Not so much for yourself but your passenger! I’ve done it with no harm but happy I used rivets! If you remove the side skirts the small holes are not visible unless you look under the car. My shirts used bolt holes at the ends so alignment was perfect before drilling. The bolt holes in the center are too far into the center of the car to be effective in holding the skirt by themselfs. However to each his own.
Here is a PDF of my install-if interested: http://netwelding.com/Side_Skirts.pdf
Rivets Make a Tight Secure Fit
You're Drilling Into a Plastic Composite Panel NOT the Aluminum Frame
just be aware, double sided tape is very strong after a short time of adhesion. if you ever have to take the side skirt off, you will do more damage to the rocker from the tape removal than seeing a hole that you drilled to rivet. The hole can be plugged if thats your desire, but damage either needs to be repainted, or repaired if "chunks" are taken out...
I too was going to install my ACS skirts with tape until i realized how simple the rivets were...
