Default Gas Mileage

I am sure that many people here don't care what the fuel efficiency is on our C7s but my wife certainly does....I gave up my Camry Hybrid that got 35+ mpg.

Anyway, around town in sport mode I get around 17-18 mpg and I think that's probably pretty normal. Today I made a 200 mile interstate highway trip in Energy mode and I got 28.7 mpg. For the most part I was running 70 mph in 7th gear @1500 rpm. Honestly I am impressed.

I know there are people that say, "Drive it like you stole it" or, "Don't be such a wimp", but I keep my sport/track mode for the surface streets. I don't see the need to be in anything other than Energy mode when cruising down the interstate, and it's easier on the wallet.

I for one wasn't actually CONCERNED.....but considering how its rated, I will be tickled sh*tless ....... especially since my caddy CTS, which has a V6 gets 24-26 mpg on the hwy using my cruise control at 70. and my Vette will be my Daily Driver and my daily commute back and forth to work is 100 miles. SO I will be SAVING gas by getting the Vette over my caddy!! lol

Amazing isn't it? My best run so far has been 30.3 with an overall average right around 23.9. I don't use Eco mode much at all though. Car is M7 BTW.

Yeah, but your fun factor will be over the top.

No long trips here, mix of some interstate traffic and errands, always on Sport mode, getting just under 24 mpg. Would like to know what it will do on a longer trip. Don

I also get around 17 MPG in town....I went on an interstate trip to Abilene, and put it in 6th (not 7th) on cruise control and got 32.9 MPG.
There are some long hills in west Texas and I did not want to have to downshift from 7th. In 6th, it never slowed down. So far, it has never been in ECO mode.

Naaaa, I prefer to think he has a pair.

For fun, let's run this to ground (for the math purists out there, yes the numbers are rounded off and my estimates will most certainly vary):

C7 = 17mpg
Camry Hybrid = 35mpg
Delta = 18mpg
Estimate of annual miles driven: 15,000
Estimate of average fuel prices $2.50

Annual fuel cost difference between C7 and Camry = $1,133 year or about $94 month.

Putt-putt your C7 along in ECO mode @ 28.7mpg and the C7/Camry fuel cost difference lessens to: $235/year, or $19.58 a month. So, fuel cost difference wise, for what amounts to probably less than you'd spend for a monthly visit to Pizza Hut, you're driving a C7.

Now... let's talk fun factor:

C7 vs Camry?

Yeah, I had done all of the math before I left the Camry for the the C7. Even at worst case scenario it is worth it.

As for my wife's involvement, I wouldn't have it any other way. Call me what you will, but I really do care about her opinion. Go ahead, flame away.

Yes, but my Prius drops to 55 if I drive it like a Vette!

They each have their purpose. I call them the Guzzler and the Sipper!

Plenty of spirited driving here and great MPG IMO through first 11k miles. Also check out the fuel economy in triple digits.

Once maintaining this speed it can even kick into V4 mode as you see!

I think that your after fuel price is on the low side. Right now in SoCal, it's around $3-3.20/gal for premium. Average for areas like California, NY, Florida or Hawaii are probably in the range of $3.50 in todays market. Also, some people commute 20K miles or more per year.

That's true but in places like where I live, south Houston area, our gas for premium is a mere 2.15. True it's at a all time low, but it's why he put average, though I believe the average might be a bit higher like you've stated.

But you guys are voluntarily living in states with those prices. Paid $2.49 on the first fillup of my new Z06. Consider coming back to the real America.
