I thought all C7s had transmission temp gauges/sensors... I'm surprised it's not on my screen. am I just having problems getting to it, or is this only for A8 cars? or Z51 maybe??
It must be, because I don't have it. I guess GM didn't wanns spend the extra 5 bucks for the sensor lol... perhaps it's attached to a line on the transmission cooler.
I have an M7 Z51 and just put my Trans Temp on the left pocket gauge today! Switched from Battery Voltage. It hit 80 yesterday so thought it was time! It will 45 tomorrow, didn’t last!
Used the steering wheel controls, hit the left arrow, and scrolled to the bottom to Settings. Found pocket gauges and scrolled thru Oil Pressure, Oil Temperature, Battery Voltage, and Transmission Temperature. Have Oil Temp on the right.

yes, but you have z51. looking for non z51 people to chime in lol
I have non -Z51 and I haven't seen it. That being said, I'm not sure why it would be necessary on a M7.
Those with trans gauges on Z51 M7s, what are they running?
Do the new M7s use 90 wt gear oil or Dexron III/IV? I know that in my c5 I switched from Dex III to Royal Purple Synchromax and it took longer to warm up for smooth shifting. I would think gear oil would not be as affected by heat. At the time I was told that ATF was used so that cold shifting would be more acceptable in northern states.
I would think any heat building would be transmitted from the differential (which is directly behind trans).
