Color Me Corvette: Velocity Yellow Could Be on its Way Out
Color me saddened. It appears Velocity Yellow, an eye magnet of a hue, might be fading away.
Not the actual paint work, but the color itself as an option. Velocity Yellow follows in the footsteps of a long line of dearly departed yellows. Perhaps you'll recall Competition Yellow and Millennium Yellow? If so, a moment of silence and a spill of the drink, please.

Yellow is a good color on vettes, but I have been surprised how "plain" the recent yellows have been.
If you have ever seen the yellow Lamborghini uses, it is amazing. Very metallic, and appears to almost glow in sunlight or indoor light. Before you say "yeah, it's a Lamborghini!$$$$$$$", The Crystal Red and Magnetic Red they have put on the vettes since 1999 also does this, and I was surprised to see them charge extra for the yellow, that to me looks non metallic and like plain yellow paint.
Hopefully, they will come out with a new yellow with a bit more visual impact.

That's too bad if it's the case. My dad's car is that color and I think it looks pretty bad-a$$. I'd dig it if only it wasn't $1k extra and I didn't already have a yellow GTO.

Good riddance in my opinion. I have NEVER liked the color yellow on any generation Corvette. Just my taste I suppose. I would love to see a flashy color added to the offering list like the Camaro Synergy Green or like the recent Ford Mustang with the lime green with gold pearl mid coat similar to the Lamborghini Verde Ithica. And the DSOM Orange should be replaced as well with a catchier orange that has more pizzazz to it.

I get compliments all the time on my 2014 VY Corvette..to each their own and I love my car and it's color!

It's a great color and one that has been popularized by the Corvette racing team with the C6.R and now with the C7.R. It will be an absolute travesty if Chevy makes VY unavailable to the consumer. It's the color that made Corvette racing so famous. DN

Last summer, at the Mosport Corvette Corral, Harlan Charles (Corvette Product Manager) chuckled when someone asked about rumors that Velocity Yellow was being discontinued. I'm paraphrasing here, but he said something like "I don't know where this rumor came from". It's possible that this has changed since last Summer, but I wouldn't bet on it. And as others said, if by chance it is discontinued, it'll almost definitely be replaced by another yellow. Maybe they can make it even hotter than Velocity.
