Color Me Corvette: Velocity Yellow Could Be on its Way Out
Color me saddened. It appears Velocity Yellow, an eye magnet of a hue, might be fading away.
Not the actual paint work, but the color itself as an option. Velocity Yellow follows in the footsteps of a long line of dearly departed yellows. Perhaps you’ll recall Competition Yellow and Millennium Yellow? If so, a moment of silence and a spill of the drink, please.
The color appears to now only have a ten-percent availability on orders for the Corvette, which has been the pattern when GM begins phasing out a color. The speculation follows a previous report that Kirk Bennion, Corvette exterior design manager, suggested a new yellow might be on its way.
Personally, Velocity Yellow has been one of my favorite colors for the C7, but I’m guessing that will probably hold little weight with Chevy’s decision to keep or discontinue the color.
