Hey guys, ever since I pulled fuse 41 in my c7, I have noticed a considerable amount of backfiring, sort of like a crackle and pop sound, coming from the exhaust as I let the car engine break. I like this sound a lot, just wondering why it happens, and more so why it only happens now after the fuse being pulled. Thanks guys!

It's due to just low back pressure and when you pull the fuse it's basically just wide open all the way
They sound is amazing Enjoy it. There is nothing wrong.

If you did headers it would do it even more
I agree, I love the sound. Also, thanks for the advice. May consider headers if they would increase the sound, but its already pretty damn loud lol I don't know how much louder I would want it to be!
Cant you just go into the sound management settings and change them, instead of pulling the fuse?
on the 2014's, setting the engine sound management to "off" does not actually leave the baffles of the exhaust open all of the time. Pulling the fuse leaves them open 100% of the time

I see, I am just going by what I read for the 2015. Father In Laws car has a TPW of 5.4.2015, so I am trying to get as much figured out as I can
I have the Z51 which includes the multi mode exhaust in the 2015, but I didn't want to pull the fuse, because it took away the fact that it was a mode exhaust and just made it loud. I like showing it to others by putting it in tour mode, then changing to track so people can hear the difference when they want to see the car!
Pop and burble, as it's been called by the Euro community for years, is such a desirable trait these days that companies like BMW and Jaguar specifically have options for Active Exhaust that causes a fuel overrun. Jaguar actually charges for the option, and includes a button and a subsequent map for the overrun. Likewise, BMW and MINI Sport and Sport+ modes on M and JCW cars, respectively, enable overrun in the tune.
Side note, I actually asked my tuner to add additional overrun to my build, and I could feel his gaze through the e-mail. I see why, now that I can shoot a flame if need be.
I'd show you guys videos of my last WRC MINI, but 4-cylinders don't belong here. It's simply pop and burble ****. We re-wrote the ECU to essentially sound like an anti-lag without needing to replace turbos after every race (we used hybrid twins instead).
