I hope I am not hijacking this thread....
I checked the base caliper to inner barrel clearance on my 18" Motegi wheels and I measure 0.87 clearance. The rear 19" wheel has even more clearance. The valve stems appear to be in what I call normal locations. So, at first check, it appears that the Z51 calipers should be no more than 1/2" further out with the 1" large dia Z51 rotors. The wheel spoke-to-caliper clearance gets greater as the caliper is located further outward.
I have never seen Cray wheels in person and was confused by the described interference of the valve stems with the calipers. After looking at the Cray wheels on the website I see that the location of the valve stem seems further inside the wheel barrel. Is that true? And is that causing the interference problem?
Yes, if the valve stem placement was one inch outward it would clear the calipers. I just found out that some companies make flush mount valve stems and that they are used to clear calipers. I'm going to take a look at them and see if it would work in this situation.
Why 18/19 F/R. Z51 cars clearly come equipped with 19/20 F/R wheels. You probably got a set of wheels designed for a base C7, which is why they don't fit. Buyer beware I guess.
