Cray Wheels
I had a pretty long day today and am royally pissed with TSW and Cray wheels. I have a good friend that works at Tire Kingdom and he called and tried to order me a set of Cray Hawk wheels to fit my C7 Z51. The operator told him that the 18x9.5 would fit the front(although it states front and rear on their website) but not the rear of the Z51 and the 19x11 would fit the rear. Cray was out of stock on the Matte Black at the time so I decided not to order. Couple of days later as I was browsing eBay, i found the 18x9.5 and 19x11 matte black wheels and purchased them.
Today I had the wheels and new tires mounted on the car. Turns out, the wheels don't fit. The forward facing valve stem hits the brake calipers on the fronts and the rear facing valve stem hits the control arm on the rears. I called TSW to find out what the deal was and why it doesn't fit. The tech I spoke to told me that the wheels only fit a base model and not the Z51. Why did the first tech tell me that they would fit? Why do they not specify on their fitment guide that they will not fit a Z51? Their site doesn't allow you to specify wether you have a base or Z51 Stingray, it just says Corvette C7 Stingray and then has all the wheels that fit listed both Z51 and non-Z51, making it appear as if all the wheels will fit both models. After telling the rep that I just spent money on new wheels and tires and for the shipping of the wheels and tires as well as the mounting and balancing that I'm just supposed to go F myself?
I'm royally pissed at how they treated me as a customer. When questioned about why their website is listing incorrect information, his response was, " Well if you would have called, we would have told you that they wouldn't fit." me: "I DID CALL," his response: "Well I don't know who you spoke with and theres nothing we can do about it because we don't deal with consumers."
To top it all off, one of the wheels was scratched when the mechanic dismounted the tire.

Bummer big time. Can u return them with no penalty? Scratch likely to be an issue.
Sounds like Cray didn't expect anyone would want to remove their Z51's 19"& 20" wheels and replace them with 18"& 19"s. They didn't plan for that possibility.

I don't know how there aren't proper track wheels made for the C7 yet. We have to resort to custom $4k wheels to take on the track and then trash.
yep, it's definately TSW's fault that you wanted a non spec size for your Z51, you didn't dry fit the rims before you mounted tires and you purchased from a vendor with a no return policy.......

yup...I have had a set of TSW's and Cray's on the C7, both fit perfectly. I paid near MSRP for them, but that was fine, because I wanted no hassles like above. So I bought local from an authorized dealer, who fit them himself, mounted/balanced with a Roadforce machine, and certainly would have taken any thing back if there was a hint of mis-fitment. He also remounted the TSW's on another c7, that was buying them from me, free.

Considering my buddy called to order a set for me and TSW told us what would fit, yes it is TSW's fault. But that's not the purpose of this thread. I don't want someone else going through what I went through regarding fitment so if it helps at least one person, then this thread has served its purpose.
I am interested in this thread as I am thinking about adding Z51 calipers/rotors on just the front of my base C7. I have after market wheels in 18/19 and have wondered about the Z51 caliper fitment or clearance on my front Motegi 18" wheels. I had also consider the Cray and TSW wheels in 18/19.
I hope I am not hijacking this thread....
I checked the base caliper to inner barrel clearance on my 18" Motegi wheels and I measure 0.87 clearance. The rear 19" wheel has even more clearance. The valve stems appear to be in what I call normal locations. So, at first check, it appears that the Z51 calipers should be no more than 1/2" further out with the 1" large dia Z51 rotors. The wheel spoke-to-caliper clearance gets greater as the caliper is located further outward.
I have never seen Cray wheels in person and was confused by the described interference of the valve stems with the calipers. After looking at the Cray wheels on the website I see that the location of the valve stem seems further inside the wheel barrel. Is that true? And is that causing the interference problem?
Okay, to get back to the subject of why 18/19 Cray wheels do not fit Z51 calipers/rotors.
I find it hard to accept that the 18" Cray wheels do not fit a mere 13.6" diameter rotor and caliper. Sure the C7 Calipers are a different design than the previous C6 calipers, but 13.6" rotors/calipers generally should not have too much trouble fitting within an 18" diameter wheel.
Yeah, it is not a C7, but my 2006 Saleen PJ Mustang came with 14" Saleen/Stoptech rotors and Saleen/Stoptech ST-40 calipers and they have no trouble fitting within 18" Apex wheels and "almost" fit the Brembo 15" rotors and 6 piston Brembo Calipers.
So, I agree with the OP, and I would also be upset as to why 18/19 Cray Hawks have a fitment problem with C7 Z51 rotors/calipers.
