1. The 2lt entry price is out of you range. (Go for it!)
2. You want to save a little money...
I bought my last Vette with (2.) in mind. Mine was a 2LT convertible, which in 2007 was the base convertible. (there was no 1LT convertible)
I ended up keeping this car for 8 years and I loved it. That said, I ended up spending $2000.00 on an upgraded stereo-with navigation. I always wished I would have had heads up and power roof.
This time I ordered my car and since this will more likely than not be my last one, I ordered 3 LT and every option I even thought about. Since I did not need Z51, it was not prohibitively expensive.
Get what you can afford, but if you leave off an option you really want, you may be spending money on aftermarket stuff or trading in the car in a few years.
Whatever happens, good luck with the car.

Honestly, I don't get the stripped down cars, you give up everything that makes the C7 work well; The torque vectoring diff, the mag ride suspension, performance traction management, and the much improved interior and tech.
What is worse is the people spend money to put the "Z51 look" package on stripped out car.
1LT is the only way to buy a Corvette. Anything else is a waste of money. If you really want a Cadillac buy a CTSV. Keep your Corvette simple and light. vectoring differentials become a service nightmare in the future.
Hard to argue when the "base car" pulls over 1 g in non Z-51 trim. Everyone is different though. I personally think the upgraded trim levels are a waste of money. Hard to justify a $75 grand 3lt Stingray, when for a little more your in a 1lz Z06. I'd love to be satisfied with a "base" car, but know I'll personally regret passing on the Z-51 and mag ride for 7 grand more. Order what you want. It's cheaper in the long run.
Bought 1lt, a6, love it, Just added, carbon fiber dash, seat heating, tinted rear, added homelink, and I am happy with it. 700 USD mods, and it is perfect. Adding heating to seats was 5 hour modd. Mine is CGM with grey interior, and I hate 2 lt gray armrest, and door inserts. To ech his own. Also my curb is the possible lowest .
I just got my Laguna blue 1LT Z51, MRC, black interior, two days ago. Dropped it off at the shop for Nanofusion paint protection and window tinting on the way home. It's a personal decision, but for me I wouldn't have paid $1000 for the 2LT package. The only thing I might have liked was the heads up display but I've got along fine without it for 47 years of driving.
Great work! You get it. I've had 3LTs and went with a 1LT on my last Vette and never looked back. I realized that I never used any of that crap. HUD is a stupid gimmick. Play a damn video game if that's what you like. Who honestly needs their water temperature or oil pressure thrown in their face continuously via the windshield. More junk that will get you nest to nothing on resale.
Again, really? Is it really that hard for you to express your opinion without insulting everyone who doesn't share your opinion?
Thanks to all for your responses. I appreciate all of them.
The 1LT will be my choice, as stated.
I keep a Silverado, a Cherokee, 1 Daily beater, and 1 '59 Tbird going... I also keep 4 motorcycles going... yea, just the 2 of us (kids are all gone).
With the big swing in the prices of these cars based on the packages, well, If someone had only $60K to work with, I'd be much happier with the Auto 1LT and keeping my Hayabusa, instead of having a 3LT Vette and no Hayabusa....
The HUD sounds cool, but I can't justify the package to get it.

IMO, you really don't need it with this car given the LED dash display that it comes with. I loved HUD on the C6 and C5 models and considered it with my C7 purchase, but I couldn't justify $4,300 for heated/cooled seats and HUD. It's not that I couldn't afford it, it's just that I didn't think it was a good value. I love my 1LT black interior car and have never looked back
I ordered a 1LT Z51A8 in Velocity Yellow with lots of mods including camera and Mag Ride. Current price would be over $70K. Didn't want HUD or the heated and VENTILATED??? seats. Picked up a auto day/nite mirror for $115.00 and the Home Link Visor. Spent much of the rest of the $4K on other mods like Z06 Grille and skirts etc. Had Supplier discount so felt I came out great. My son recently got a 1LT Vert and not only got an 11% off, he had almost $2K in GM dollars. Courtesy delivery this weekend for only $200. Car retailed for $63,300., so saved almost $9K.
Unless you gotta hafta have heads up, 1LT is a no brainer. To me heads up interferes with my forward vision. Yes, I have driven cars with it for lots of miles. With the big digital speedo just a few degees below my long range line of sight, Heads Up is just a redundant gimmick to me.
My opinion only... Lots of people love it. Glad they do.
Oh yeah. Not having Homelink is PITA, but easily resolved with plug-and-play Homelink visor.
1LT here (also black interior), but added nav. No regrets whatsoever. Anyone who refers to a 1LT C7 as a "stripped down car" has interesting expectations for a sports car.
1LT and zero regrets. Auto, Nav/PDR, Wheels. Went with Gray interior and added the Console cover in gray from Chevy parts for $156 - looks great and brings the seats together. Not necessary if going w/ black.
Really, the auto is the only thing I really needed (car comes loaded with more than your will likely use), but upgraded wheels machine face ($1450), really change the car appearance over the stock silver painted IMO. Car windowed for just a smidge over $60K before the Military (Supplier) Discount.
I would have preferred to have the vented/cooling seats in Florida. I don't care for the HUD or any of the other features.
You and I are in the same boat. Would have made use of vented seats in FL. Test drove a vet with the HUD and didn't care for it, not sure if I would have grown to like it.
I have managed to get my air vents positioned just right to negate some of the crazy heat. I'm going to need a shade for the see through top though.
