Default Stock front grill question

Just wondering if you can remove the chrome strip, put on a carbon fiber vinyl strip over it and then replace it.

You don't have to remove it to cover it with vinyl.

Just thinking of getting a better wrap around the complete piece.

You can't remove it without damage.

I disagree. Jagamaran posted an excellent vid showing how to do this.

My understanding is that to remove the chrome piece you have to remove the grill first. Might as well just change it to a Z06 grill since the labor would be the same.

I threw on some black electrical tape a year ago just to see if I might like the look. It is still there!

I removed mine without damage. Just takes patience and the right tool for the job.

Did mine yesterday with the vinyl striping from Vettefx. Used a razor blade knife and an old credit card to tuck it in a trim off the excess. Looks really nice. Goes great with the black badging and CF stinger stripe. No need to remove the grill.

VetteFX supplies both Carbon Flash and Carbon Fiber strips to cover the chrome. I have the Carbon Flash one sitting in the garage just waiting for the car to arrive.

VetteFX Carbon Flash strip....5-10 mins to install. Dry installation. Just need a razor and a vinyl squeegee or credit card or basically anything of the sort. Just trim the excess.

Same here two months ago. The tape on the ends did not tuck well so I applied a small amount of black RTV at those points to secure them better.

Yep, it comes out. Just be careful so you don't brake the tabs. I used a real high tech device . The basic plastic knife from a picnic set. I believe that it would have worked better with a butter knife though.
But, Gene, be sure to get the mustard off first as it is hard to get off the grill.
