I'm wondering whether something may be wrong with my backup camera, because the image quality is so poor. It really hit me yesterday when I was riding in a rental Camaro, and noticed that the image quality from the backup camera was so much higher resolution than the one in my Stingray. That just don't seem right. So now I'm wondering whether they just put a low-res camera in the Stingray, or whether my camera may be a lemon.

Surprised this has never come up on the forum! I have a 14 Vette and a 14 GMC SLT Sierra and the backup camera pictures is terrible on both. My wife's Honda Odyessy has a much better picture!!

Camera is way better in the Camaro. Corvette just crap comparatively in that aspect only, camaro also has back up sensors that I like, Corvette does not.
My 2015 has a great rear picture from the camera. The images are clear enough to show leaves and larger pebbles. Build date would probably have been in late November/early December 2014.
Not being a wisea$$ - have you cleaned the lens recently?
FOR THE SIMPLE REASON......the camera is pointing down.....AND all the dirt flying up on wet roads. the fest couple of weeks I had my car it was nasty and rained a lot.....didn't take long for me not to be able to see much. walked around with a cloth and wiped the lens off.....PRESTO CHANGE-O clear as a bell.
It's a fair picture on the Corvette but not great. Part of the problem is the size of the screen - it's almost too big. Pic quality on my wife's Mercedes is MUCH better. Not that big of deal to me - Vette is functional. I spend very little time in reverse.
Agree, the C7 back gets dirty after 50 miles, just like the C6. My camera looks great when my car is clean. When the rear gets dirty, so does the camera lens.
I think the image quality is subpar. This really manifested a few weeks ago. My wife and I had a rental Toyota Corolla and it blew my C7's image quality away.
I don't care much about image quality as long as I can see the objects behind me, and it's good enough for that. I don't apply the same quality criteria for that as I do for my home theater.
It is ok, not been impressed with back up cameras on any vehicle. Did save me from backing over my cleanup bag though, put the car in reverse and surprise there sat my bag! Camera did its' job, preventing backing into things (doesn't need ultra high resolution).

No problems with quality of back-up camera on any of GM vehicles (C7, 2012 GMC Yukon & 2014 Buick Encore) except for the Buick Encore at night. I believe it may have something to do with a lack of light coming from the back-up lights. C7 and Yukon are clear both day and night.

I don't need 1080p quality in a backup camera. I need to see clearly behind me. This camera does the job. Not the worlds best picture, but does it really need to be?
