Default NAV Question

I haven't seen this problem so I thought I would post it and see if anybody else has had it.

I just picked up my c7 on 4/23 and we drove from Maryland to Nevada. On several occasions I noticed that the speed limit showing on the info screen was different than the posted speed limit. We had this happen multiple times and in multiple states. I was wondering if my map needs to be updated?

I think he is talking about the speed limit sign that can be viewed on the DIC. I have noticed that also, guess the software will always lag behind the actual highway speeds posted as they get changed up or down.

Sorry for being unclear. Blue Demon is correct. I was referring to the speed posted on the DIC. It was off by 10+ mph on several occasions. I just assumed that it was tied in to the same information as the nav system. Apparently not.

I've noticed very accurately located accident icons on the nav screen for the road I'm on. I assume that's from OnStar. Possibly speed limit info comes from OnStar too?

. Speed limit info is from the data base. Virtually impossible to be totally accurate, speed limit signs seem to change at random. It is not just GM's system either. Useless information, I never look at displayed speed information.

Where is the speed limit posted on the DIC and the NAV screen? I didt see either of these.

It's on the DIC. It must be in "Sport" mode and you have to select the "Info" screen. Once you do that, scroll up or down until the posted limit shows up center screen.

Not true (at least if not linked to driving mode).

I view the supposed posted limit in Tour Mode all the time...

Ken's right. It should show up in whatever mode you are in. I've used it in all the modes except for Track (I still haven't put it in Track yet).

Interesting to know. I knew XM had traffic information but I didn't realize XM radio could put icons on the nav map.

Question for the speed limit that's posted on the DIC. For some reason, it doesn't always show what the posted speed limit is. Lots of times it's blank and I'm on major streets here in CA. Any suggestions on to why this is happening?
Thanks Jerry

Pretty sure it's normal. Same thing in my area. PA turnpike recently raised speed limit to 70 but DIC still shows 65. Some streets I drive show nothing on the DIC.

I notice the same with my Garmins. The city/county/state changes the speed limit on a section of road, and the change isn't reported to the company that makes the maps.

I also notice that I don't get a posted speed limit on my Garmins in the city if I'm driving on a side street that does not have posted speed limit signs but the speed limit is specified by the city's speed limit that is the default limit unless otherwise specified.

I find it very useful when you're on some country road and come into a town where the cops are waiting to catch you speeding and you don't see any speed limit sign. I find it on DIC and know what speed is legal here.

Actually in the DIC and the HUD (if you set it right).

I've always thought it's simply because the database they are using doesn't have an entry for the speed limit on this road in this area.
