Hmm? My Jet Black sure looks Black. You want it when . Love my M7! 8 Speed auto, get ready for $1300 gas guzzler tax. Be sure and check constraints. Best bet is order a 2015 off large volume dealer. Good luck.

doug1707:

Is your statement possible misinformation to a potential C7 owner?

There is no gas guzzler tax of $1300 that I have ever seen by owning a A8 Auto transmission on a C7. I own a C7 with A8 and there was no gas guzzler tax of any kind when I made my purchase.

Perhaps you can provide your source that documents the gas guzzler tax of $1300.

Sorry, I was referring to the 2015 Z06 A8. This is correct and been discussed in other posts. I apologize if i was misleading.

2. If it felt too mellow, you may have been in the Eco or Touring drive mode. Sport and Track are the more aggressive modes.

3. "Exciting" or "Driving Excitement" is a very relative term.
However, to make sure you've tried all the settings....On the next test drive make sure you use sport and track mode, different suspension settings, performance driving mode, paddle shifters "on the fly" and full manual shift mode. The car can change personality based on all these settings.
If you are not sure how to access all these settings, people here can help or Google up the owners manual.

If you order one, be sure you get the NPP exhaust. Here's how my Z51 sounds in Track Mode, which is where I leave it all the time. It's music to the ears!

1. What Chevrolet calls 'jet black' for the interior is grey brown. Sorry, but someone at Chevy is colorblind. Really, I thought it was an error on the inventory slip. Anyone else notice this?
Maybe you're colorblind? My DSOM with black interior sure looks black to me.

2. Did a very short test drive due to the salesman. First impression was it's much more of GT than I expected. Could barely hear the exhaust and like vettes before it it idles so low around town it feels like rather sedate. I was surprised at how 'mellow' it felt for a 400+ HP beast...not sure I liked that.
Yes, I think to a large extent it is a GT car (but not everyone will agree). It's got a ton of luxury features. But how sedate it feels is totally up to you. Set the driving mode to sport or track and put your foot into it, and it's not very sedate.

As far as noise, where did the salesmen set the driving mode? My guess would be he put it in Tour, which keeps the NPP in quiet mode most of the time. Set it to Track, and it's got a properly sporty note. Not super loud, but you can definitely hear it.

3. Do you have to really stomp on this car and get it into triple digits to make it feel exciting?
See driving mode, above.

4. I asked about ordering one. They said it would have to be a 2016 and I wouldn't get it until January...no really. I asked why and they said some ******** about they had 7 other orders ahead of mine. WTF? 7-8 months to get a car?
Read about allocations, and look at the sponsoring dealers here, and learn about courtesy delivery. You *may* be able to order a 2015 still, I'm not sure, but Kerbeck, or Criswell, or one of the other big dealers can tell you. I got my 2015 exactly 8 weeks after ordering from Criswell.

5. The front seat is surprisingly narrow in the hips. This surprised me. I am not big...tall, but only 165 lbs and I was sitting on the seat bolsters...not comfortable.
Yep. After years of car mags complaining about how crappy Corvette seats were, with little to no side support, Chevy finally listened. They are pretty narrow. I don't find it a problem, but I'm neither tall nor wide. There is a thread here (or maybe the "other" forum) about someone who lessened the effect of the bolsters.

6. What's the best way to get the one I want without ordering? Will the dealers trade with each other?
Not sure, but I would guess a dealer can get one transferred. It might cost a little extra. Or you could travel to buy. Also see comment above about high volume dealers and courtesy delivery.

7. Where can I get real sales price information?

Thanks!
Probably the best you're going to find is the supplier or credit union discount. Both are about 9% below sticker. Not all dealers will accept that on a Stingray, but I know Criswell will. You can find a list of accepted credit unions on Chevy's web site, and there are a number of national, anyone-can-join institutions on the list.

The seats have very robust bottom and side bolsters. You should spend some significant seat time to make sure that you can achieve a satisfactory seating position. You are not the first person to have concerns about the seats. And no, I'm not trying to start a flame war.

If you give the gas pedal an aggressive rap the screen that is the speedometer will say "Performance Shift Active" (Automatic)
The car will now aggressively shift and if you can't here the engine/exhaust in Sport or Track mode with NPP at this point you are deaf.
The car will even downshift around corners for you in this mode. I call it Happy Mode.

Not to get off topic but is there a way to activate that shift mode manually?

Not that I know of, getting on it usually activates it as well as the quick tap of the gas pedal. Watch the center gauge in the middle of the speedometer for the message about performance shift. You'll also notice that the transmission will behave totally different. It will ride gears longer at higher RPMs and downshift around corners, etc.

When you do this quick tap are you in gear or neutral?
