C7 quick driving impression-feedback please
1. What Chevrolet calls 'jet black' for the interior is grey brown. Sorry, but someone at Chevy is colorblind. Really, I thought it was an error on the inventory slip. Anyone else notice this?
2. Did a very short test drive due to the salesman. First impression was it's much more of GT than I expected. Could barely hear the exhaust and like vettes before it it idles so low around town it feels like rather sedate. I was surprised at how 'mellow' it felt for a 400+ HP beast...not sure I liked that.
3. Do you have to really stomp on this car and get it into triple digits to make it feel exciting?
4. I asked about ordering one. They said it would have to be a 2016 and I wouldn't get it until January...no really. I asked why and they said some ******** about they had 7 other orders ahead of mine. WTF? 7-8 months to get a car?
5. The front seat is surprisingly narrow in the hips. This surprised me. I am not big...tall, but only 165 lbs and I was sitting on the seat bolsters...not comfortable.
6. What's the best way to get the one I want without ordering? Will the dealers trade with each other?
7. Where can I get real sales price information?
Thanks!
research is your friend. good luck.
I now exactly what options I want. And ready to order.
Any options that are MUST HAVES or that have been disappointing or overpriced?
I want:
8 speed auto
2LT Z51
Magnetic Ride Control
Do the competition sport bucket seats have more hip width?
I will do a few track days...are they better for use as a daily driver?
More comfortable than the stock seats?
And which Bose stereo is the best?
Thanks.
Anything I missed that is a 'must have' for enthusiasts? I want a true sports.
research is your friend. good luck.
Yes on the NPP but when the sales guy changed it didn't seem to make much difference. Bolsters on the back are adjustable, under the butt, not.
Good suggestion on the credit union.
And...where are you searching on the internet to find what dealers have in stock?
I have looked a lot...please let me know what you are referring to. Thank you!
And if i buy the car out of state...how do I not pay tax twice when I bring it back to California?
Thanks!!
NPP sounds like the apocalypse when you get on it of its in the open mode...
Good luck..

2015 Z51 M7. While it has taken some time to get really comfortable with how the car performs, I liken it more to a Supercar then a GT. The secret is revs - the more the merrier. Keep the revs above 3K and it will not feel sedate nor will it be quiet.
3. Do you have to really stomp on this car and get it into triple digits to make it feel exciting?
See above. 4K in 2nd on a twisty road is a blast.

Many have talked about this. I drive with my left knee and left foot twisted in just a bit, where normally your left foot falls out, towards the door. Not a big deal and not at all uncomfortable, and it keeps your thigh off the bolster. It also gets more comfortable with use.

I am also a smaller guy and found myself sitting on the seat side bolsters.
NPP is a must have option.
Automatic or manual, your choice but 67% of C7's are autos so it suggests the retail market prefers auto. Manual might impact resale later.
Having the NPP exhaust is a nice option, certainly makes the car sound better or put in an after market exhaust and avoid paying for the up front option.
Don't understand the seat problem , much bigger men don't seem to have an issue with the C7. I am 6' and 200 lbs and the seats are just fine, the seats do have a lot of variability with the power controls maybe you just need to fit it to your own body thru those adjustments.
You will need to do a lot of research about buying a C7 to understand the long lines at some dealerships and none at all at others, time to start reading the threads available in the sticky section here that discusses all of that. Allocations, delivery options etc.etc.. , it's all there.
Make a list of all topics that you want to discuss ref either ordering or finding a 2015 C7 on a dealers lot.
Make a list of the options that you want on the C7.
All GM dealers have access to the GM computer that will tell them where and what options on the C7's that any dealer has in inventory.
Call Mike Furman at Criswell Chevrolet.
He is very well respected within the industry. He has been selling cars for 38 years, and that alone is one impressive statistic. Very few salesman in the auto industry have that tenure.
Furman is very visable on this CF forum and posts honest sincere information, and it appears that his customers really like him, and he has many repeat customers, which speaks for itself.
You will find many opinions here on the Corvette Forum. Sometimes these opinions can drive a person crazy as they are so diverse.
Go directly to the source who will provide accurate information, cut through the BS, and cut through the confusion that you will end up after reading all these posts.
A simple telephone call, being polite and professional to a guy like Mike Furman would be my recommendation. I am sure that he will provide enough information, take his time with you to answer any and all questions and work with you. In today's world, many automobiles are purchased from out of state dealerships. So don't let that be a deterent when searching for a new C7. If the C7 is built for you (2016MY) it has to be shipped anyway.
I am sure that many other CF members will endorse Mike Furman at Criswell.
Disclaimer: I don't know Mike Furman, I have never spoken to Mike Furman, but I suggest him due to his demeanor and posts here on the forum. He seems to be a very staright forward honest person, that means allot to me. When it comes time to buy the next generation Corvette, he will be my go to guy. Hopefully he will still be in the business by then.

2) Check the NPP and press harder on the gas pedal.
3) Press harder on the gas pedal. I can't imagine anyone not finding this car exciting.
4) You need a new dealer.
5) You don't sound fat, so close your legs.

NPP is a must have option.

If you thought the car you drove was quiet it very likely did not have the NPP exhaust, I find it to be plenty loud for spirited driving.
The car is really fast and makes great torque you don't need to go 100 to feel excited, if that is the case you're driving it wrong. A sedate car is a comfortable car, if these cars felt rowdy when driving around town everyone would complain about NVH. It's not a big block 70's muscle car.
My jet black interior is black.
There are different seat options, I'm 225 lbs and I fit fine.
Talk to a large forum dealer about ordering.
The seats are a bit tighter in the hip/thigh area as to provide more lateral support under cornering. Sitting with your knees pointed straighter out from your hips helps to alleviate the "sitting on top of the bolster" effect.
Check the Marketplace tab on the bar at the top of the page, all of the forum vendors are listed there with contact information. ie: Kerbeck, Criswall, and others. A quick phone call to one of these vendors will get you good information and allow you to make a choice as to what you want.
And go to the Corvette Build Your Own site to get some good info with out having to talk to someone. A good way to increase your general info on the car, although the '16 info is not up yet there is plenty there to help inform you.
Good luck

The one place I don't hear a noticeable difference is when cruising though my neighborhood at around 30 to 45 MPH....which is what one might experience on a short test drive with a salesman????
As to it feeling "sedate" one of the things I love about this car (and loved about my old C5 too) was that it is easy to handle in traffic etc but really responds to your right foot. Its to the point where I can be hitting "go to jail" speeds before I even know it...

For long interstate trips (hours, not mins) I put a white cotton towel under my left thigh which raises my leg enough that that bolster is not painful, but it is still there.
Finally, driving a manual transmission around a race track at Spring Mtn made me realize that these seats are great. First, the clutch work forces leg movement that doesn't happen in an automatic and gets the left leg off that side bolster. Two, the intensity and sheer fun of racing meant I never thought once about that left side seat bolster. So, I think the moral of that story is drive spiritedly and move your leg around a lot.
I don't mean any of this as a negative. You will LOVE this car!

Obviously if a 2015 Z51 it would have had NPP.
