Agreed. I like the standard wheel best of all, and it's not even close.
The wheels on this Laguna Blue C7 is NOT a standard wheel. There is an upgraded cost to get the 5 Multispoke Wheel and this wheel as shown is part of the ZF1 Appearance Pkg which cost an extra $1995.00 as an option.
The Standard Corvette C7 Wheel is pictured below the Laguna Blue C7.

It's the standard wheel on model 1YX07 "Coupe with Z51" (the car pictured) and model 1YX67 "Convertible with Z51".
Preparing to order 16 Z-51 vert and can't bring myself to spend 4400 on chrome wheels
Has anyone had experience in having the stock Z-51 wheels chromed or bought aftermarket chromed wheels
I have chrome wheels ( Z-51) wheels and just use the regular car wash soap and bendable brush for inside the wheels !!! In fact my previous Vette 2001 C5 had chrome wheels and they still looked good 10 years later !!! Wayne

blue max:
If you order a Z51 Package, the Z51 comes standard with the 5 Multi-Spoke Wheel Painted Silver.
If you upgrade to the 5 Multi-Spoke Chrome wheel the charge is $1995.00
Not sure how you got the $4400 price.
Go to the Chevy website build a Corvette, it is all spelled out there for you and shows the prices to upgrade the wheels on the Z51 package.
I weighed getting the stock wheel and sending it to Cal Chrome in CA to have them do a full chrome ($1,020 w/shipping both ways) vs just the front chrome/silver barrel on the optional base wheel. My Lexus wheels (I purchased chromed cores they had in stock) look great with the chrome barrels. (if you want polished barrels...add another $400).
In the end I decided to just get the factory chrome and be done with it vs have the car up on jack stands for a few weeks. In hind sight I'd send out the stock wheels....the chrome face/silver barrel which show more on the 5 spoke base wheels look weird (to me) vs a fully chromed wheel.
I have the chrome stock Z51 rims and they are painted on the barrel so I decided to remove the silver paint and I was surprised to see that the rim are totally chrome, and look pretty good.

I'll be dammed! Any special paint stripper you used.

Find the best you can buy, The paint is pretty tough to get off, I used paint stripper called Air Craft Stripper Gel , got it at Oreilly's .The paint stripper will not hurt the chrome .
Here is the front rims after paint removal, You can zoom in and see the difference in the front & rear. The rear rim paint was not remover for this pic.

Everyone, of course is correct, the Chrome Z51 wheels are $1,995 when I bought my Z51 Vert Bach in Jan. 2014. In case you are interested to order a extra set of these wheels from a Chevy dealer are $775.39 each for front - part number 20986483 and $895.00 each for rear - part number 20986479. The sensors are $41.40 each - part number 13581560.
I wanted an extra set to mount my all-season tires for cold weather (not snow) as I has read about the summer tire issue before the car arrived. These prices are wholesale, discounted cost that a car shop would pay. Chevy dealer still makes money just less than retail. If you shop different Chevy dealers you will find (like I did) a parts mgr that will work with you on price.
