Default Instrument lights - Problems

Anyone having this problem. Driving along in broad day light and suddenly instrument lights go out. Keep driving, no change in weather, and suddendly they come on again. This has happened at night also. Not touching anything in the process. Sometimes out for 10 plus minutes. In the daytime hours I tried covering the light sensor on top of dash that controls the headlight auto illumination but no help, dash lights did not come on. The navigation screen is affected at the same time the instrument lights are going on and off. Does not happen frequently but is maddening and dangerous when occuring at night. Help????

Could be as simple as an intermittent ground connection somewhere, but it sounds like a trip to the dealer is in order. Of course, getting it to fail while it's in their hands will probably be impossible. I think Murphy has a law for that ..

Hey c6rod,

We're sorry to hear your instrument lights intermittently go out on you. Have you had your local Chevy dealership take a look at this concern for you? They would be in the best position to diagnose this concern. We would be happy to get you in touch with them. Please PM us with your name, contact information, VIN, mileage and dealership name if you would like us to do so.

Thank you,

Jeff M

If it's a 2015 model there is a service bulletin for intermittent dash problems (a reflash). If it is not happening when you bring the car to the dealer be sure to have him check his service bulletins and PI's (preliminary information bulletins).

Default Instrument lights - Problem

Thanks Jeff I would appreciate any help. Car is 2014 with 12500 miles on it and trouble free in all other regards. I love it.
VIN # is 1G1YD2079E51175--. I haven't taken it to a dealer for the reason mentioned in the first response. Chances of it occuring while they test drive it are slim to none. It has only happened a couple of times until my last (2 weeks ago) cross country trip. In 30 hours of driving over 3 days it occured once on one day and twice on the second day.
I hear that there is a service notice out for 2015 models for this problem. Should I mention that to my dealer in hopes that it is a similar fix? If so, can you supply the bulletin # so that I can referrence it??
Thanks again.
Gary

This happened to me twice today. Never happened before. I hope it doesn't happen today, but I probably won't be that lucky. I love the car, but I'm a bit disappointed in some of the issues that make it through Chevy QC.

You might want to remove the VIN from your quote of Gary's post, since he won't be able to touch that.

Default Instrument lights - Problem

Thanks for the reminder but as you can see I did not put in my complete VIN #. Enough to see where it was in build but not whole number. I assumed this was cautious enough.

Default Having the issue!

Im having the same issue with mine,2015 Z51. Please advise if you get this issue resolved. I'm dealer shy without something specific to direct them to.
Thanks
