A few things have to be a "given". The road is either flat or sloped downward. little traffic. Cruise is used. In other words, the less "power" required to move the car, the better the mileage. I have never used Eco mode. If the car doesn't need 8, it drops to 4. My 36.5 MPG was a long downslope highway going essentially flat. This got me a proveable 36.5. I was in tour, air on (this is the Mojave Desert) and made as few changes to a straight path as possible.

Flat road south of Salt Lake, "somewhere in Mexico", previous 50 miles were on cruise at 85. The best rating at the time was for earlier in the day sitting on cruise at 75 between Yellowstone and Salt Lake.

And this was the next to the last shot, right before it hit 49.7 (which was a bit out of focus) driving between Reno and Sacramento sitting on cruise at 70:

I don't think taking a reading while the car is going downhill is really representative of the mileage it gets, but that's just me.

Many of our readings along flat stretches of Iowa, Nebraska and other points along our travels were in the 36 MPG range. All doing 5 - 10 over posted speeds on cruise, and none trying to hypermil or go for records... It was what it was, and was actually quite amazing and impressive.

Chill. I'm pretty sure Cobraboy was just making a joke. We all know a stock Prius is not going to be faster than a Stingray.

I know that, jeez! A Prius is a rolling roadblock in the HOV lane. Their owners have a different agenda than Corvette owners.

Very impressive speed, glad you survived it without any bad incidents.

I posted up in the C6 forum that I got 31 MPG on an all highway trip and they didn't believe me. These cars, including C6 and C7, are so slippery and have great gearing, that they can get over 30 MPG all day long highway as long as you keep your foot out of it.

Then I don't know why you were so adamant about seeing a time slip....

Took a road trip this weekend from Lincoln, NE to Slayton, MN and averaged 30 mpg. 3/4 of the trip was on interstate highways, 70-75 mph.

He threw down the gauntlet. I challenged his crap. Maybe you stay out of this, Maybe you want to have a Prius in front of you in the HOV. His picture not mine.

When i bought a C7 i didnt know that it would be an economy car....capable of 0-60 in under 4 seconds. Saving gas too. Awesome unexpected perk! Love eco mode,,even when in eco, when you stomp it to pass or lose someone in your rearview mirror, no more eco mode,,instant growl...LOVE THIS CAR SO FAR!
Last weekend I drove 800+ miles from NE Tx to Pueblo Co and averaged 29.8 MPG, driving 79 or 74 mph, depending on the speed limit. All in Eco mode and most on cruise control. Gained about 5500 ft in elevation.

Not like it's mandatory to use it, but there is no reason not to on occasion.

Did a Prius scare you once and give you nightmares? I found the picture on the net and it isn't even a Prius.

I drive a Prius as well as my Vette. I don't hold anyone up in either car. And yes, I do floor it and pass other cars, even Vettes, in the Prius.

I like how you get belligerent on the forum, and then tell ME to take it to PMs. What part of "He was making a joke" don't you understand. He didn't throw down any gauntlet, he gave most of us something to chuckle at.

Looks like I may have to add someone else to my ignore list.

First, not a damn thing scares me. Second, you are the exception with the Prius and you probably already knew that.

Lets all just drop this and come back to Corvettes. Me first.
I apologize to all.
