If I set the temperature (left ****) to "LO" ... the AC comes on, regardless of outside temperature ... Move the fan speed control ( right ****) and the data message show saying AC if OFF. Do they all work that way??
thanks

I can’t answer that but I find the “Auto” setting annoying, you often get lukewarm air in the winter and moderately cool air in the summer. Half a** operation.
To me the simple solution is manually controlling the system. Then you get exactly what you want. Set the temp where you want it, set the fan speed and in the summer set it to recirculation. Problems solved.

Mine works very well, yours should too. Don
I use the same method as the auto mode in my opinion doesn't work very well, although it doesn't work very well in my other two cars either. (Honda & Ford)
Auto temperature control is erratic until temperature probe reaches selected temperature range. I typically adjust temperature setting up and down as needed.

Our other car, a 2009 Pontiac G8GT, works just like I said, AUTO stinks, manual is great. Hot in the winter and icy in the summer. Don
Hmmm, my Daily Driver (2007 Acura TL Type S) works really well. I was really surprised that the C7's didn't work well at all......
My 2004 Acura TL had the best "Auto" setting I have ever used.
The c5 is a close second. The controls were clunky, but "auto" worked well. The c6 was not as good and the C7 is way worse. The controls get nicer and the functionality behind them get worse. Sigh!

Yes, that's the way they work. If you move the temp one degree off LO, the compressor won't turn on, and you can have just vent functionality.

When you select LO you are telling the system you desire the cockpit temperature to be below 61 F, so it turns on the AC to try and achieve this. Why not set the temp to something like 65, with the AC off, and it will work as desired? If you turn it to LO, it's going into the max cold mode.
System needs more or bigger vents on the driver side for AC to cool of the driver. I find it cooling off my hands at the 2 & 10 position more than myself. Would be nice for a floor vent on AC so the seat fans would cool the back of the seat and not just the seat bottom. My 2 cents.
I use the AUTO function set at 70 for AC and all is well so far. AUTO for Heat is another issue.

Turn off auto and you can have the cold air going to both the dash and feet. And I've been able to adjust the vent positions so it blows more on my body and less on my hands. Depending on where you have the steering wheel adjust, though, that might not be easy.
I think many owners don't understand that even if you turn "auto" mode off, the system is still trying to maintain the temperature you've chosen. The only true "manual" settings are Lo and Hi. Otherwise, if you turn on A/C and select any temperature, the system is going to turn the compressor on or off as needed in an attempt to maintain that air temp in the cabin. You're not selecting the temp of the air coming out of the vents, but the cabin air temp.
With A/C on, the only difference between auto and not-auto is that with auto the system decides which vents get air and whether to use recirculate, and in not-auto you decide which vents get air and whether recirc is used.

It does not seem to do a good job of getting the temperature right anytime I get in stop/go traffic or are moving very slowly.
At highway speeds it does a decent job.
The Auto modes in my wifes Lexus RX350 and our old Toyota Prius work great.

In settings, there's an option for the maximum fan speed that auto is allowed to set. IIRC, it came set to medium. Resetting that to high might improve it's cooling ability.

My issue is that when in the "LO" position, the A/C says it is "OFF" when it is really "ON" .. and I found that confusing.
I have a second problem as well .... if it is say 65F outside, and I set the temp control to 61F ... I get heat pouring out of the vents, instead of just sending in unheated/uncooled outside air.

What's happening here is that the temp that coming passively through the system will not change unless you turn the system on. If you are getting warm air and want it cooler, turning the temp dial will not change the temp.
Turn on the A/C at the cooler temp for a few seconds until you feel the temp change. You can turn off the system, then and it will no longer be pulling air past the engine (which warms it up).
