I pulled over on an interstate to check something and when I pulled out I mistakenly had it in 'M'. Anyway I gave it hell to get back out on the interstate and hit the red line before I noticed what I did. I put it in neutral and then back in 'D'. Everything seem ok but it appears my oil pressure is higher idling then before and once in a while the oil press jumps up a little then back to where it wasn't. Do you thin I hurt anything?

Shouldn't have hurt anything. Why would you put it in neutral before going to Drive? You could have left it in M and just shifted with the paddles, or shifted straight into D.

I'm sure there's a rev limiter on this car which will prevent you over-revving the engine on acceleration. I wouldn't worry about it.

The owners manual says the car is speed limited while in M mode to protect engine ... so I guess the manual is referring to the Rev Limiter. BTW .. I did the same thing last week .. pulling out into traffic from Park and threw it in M instead of D.

Lucky for us, the car is too smart for us to hurt it by forgetting to shift. All it does is make us look stupid.

I've done it too many times than I can remember.

I've done it once in an auto...felt pretty dumb. That's why I have a M7. If I do it in the manual tranny...I'll call it a senior moment.

Never do that because you probably just blew up your engine.

Just kidding. You could probably sit there for 5 minutes bouncing the thing off the rev limiter and nothing will happen except it might start over heating. Not that I'd recommend doing so because that would be a retarded thing to do...

No issue at all. Just bounced off the limiter. It happens, and that's what it's there for. Works kind of nicely too, as it doesn't hit it and just leave it bouncing at 6500+ - takes it down as soon as you hit it. Not sure how I know that.................
