Looked a lot like the current Vette of the era.
I had a roommate with one of those. I think he spent more time keeping it running than actually driving it.

As for the Manta Ray, I'm surprised no one has suggested it will be the new mid-engine Corvette.

Manta Ray is not a new name for the Corvette, as it was used on a 1969 Corvette concept. That Manta Ray featured a unique side exhaust, a two-tone paint finish, new headlights and an entirely new back end which heavily modified the car’s roof line. It also came with the upgraded ZL-1 427 V8.

So what would a modern Corvette Manta Ray be? Possibly a new trim line that sits between the base Corvette Stingray and the more powerful Corvette Zo6. It could use a more powerful version of the naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8, or a down-tuned version of the supercharged 6.2-liter V8 found in the Zo6. Or maybe even a return of the legendary ZL-1?

Engines may not even play into it. The Manta Ray could simply be an appearance package that adds some visual appeal to the car. Or maybe, just maybe, this is the new mid-engine Corvette that has been rumored for some time.

The new wide body C7 Corvette "Manta Ray"??? Really???

The new C8 mid-body Corvette "Manta Ray"??? No....really????????

Whoever approves that "branding" for the Corvette should be shipped to the "Spark" Division......and never heard from again.

I'll go out on a limb here and say....

The C7 Z06 is what... 3 inches wider? Honestly, it's not even noticeable unlike the C6 widebodys which were obvious. I can't see anybody paying for an indistinguishable widebody with no additional power.

Actually the new Z06 is 77.4" wide. The old GS was the same width as the old Z06 at 75.9" wide.

I'm still curious (I asked before) if the mirror width is the same as the base, like it was on the C6?

Anybody know?

This makes sense.

Or it could be a new model of the Corvette, with a V6. Think about it. Cadillacs now have a 4 cylinder standard. The Ford F-150 has a V6 and is the most popular selling engine in the F-150. The manufactures have to meet upcoming fleet MPG standards. Smaller engines do the trick.

It could be almost anything. Or nothing. In a few years we'll probably have a much better idea.
