Default No.

No, it cannot happen. Manual door releases can override electronics if they fail.

Peace, out.

Look near the door jamb. You'll see it there.
Look in the glovebox for a book of generally good info on the car.

Take some time and read through the owners manual. It's located on the floor next to the seat. Welcome to the forum.

its a standard safety feature on all vettes, you have it, find the manual and read it well, there's a lot to learn

All C7s have a manual door release in case the electronics fail. The manual release is located on the floor near the door jam.
I would suggest reviewing the owners manual as this and many other safety features are explained. The recent death of a man and his dog in a C7 underscores the importance of knowing the car features, especially the safety aspects. There are also a number of folks on this forum who delight in insulting folks based on not reading the manual. Don't give them the opportunity!

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your new C7. Also, thanks for your intentional expression of your faith in Jesus Christ. I, too, am a follower of Christ.

As for the emergency door release, you will find it on the floorboard to the left of the driver's seat, next to the rocker panel. It is a a lever that you lift up to manually release the door. There is also one on the passenger side, to the right side of the seat on the floorboard next to the rocker panel. These come standard on all C7s.

There is also a manual door release in the trunk compartment. If you arrive at your car and find that the battery has died or your key fob is not working, there is a metal key that fits into the fob which can be used in a key lock above the license plate to open the trunk or rear hatch. Once that has been opened, you can then pull the manual door release there to open the driver side door.

As others have suggested, take a look a the owner's manual, found in the glove box. It will help a lot, but is not completely clear on some points, so if you get confused, ask away or shoot me a PM - always glad to help out.

Enjoy the new car, you will love it.

BJ

And, if you PM him, be sure to ask if the motion detector in the car works.
BJ is a good guy and as they say, any friend of Jesus is a friend of mine.
Enjoy your new C7 and welcome to the forum.

Yes, sadly it appears the electronics failed in his car (or dead battery), he couldn't open the door electronically to get out and he (again apparently) didn't know about the manual door release. Both he and his dog died from heat exposure.
