Default Manual Shift Boot Removal

Good Morning,
I'm new to this Forum, just took delivery on a 2015 Shark Grey Coupe. Not only new to the forum, but new to the Corvette family...always was a Mustang Guy. Love the new C7, but I have a question that I'm sure has been asked before; Is there a difference between the 2014 & 2015 shift boot. I purchased a black Q-ball type shift ****, but having a miserable time trying to turn the boot and chrome ring counter clock wise. I followed directions, You Tube videos and forum recommendations....still no luck.

If anyone has any new suggestions, could you please send my way.

Thanks for your assistance.

Had the same issue when I added my cue ball size shift ****. Loved the one post that said, "You'll know why you have to pull up after you get if of!!" Not any help in getting it off. The only help was a video that showed it needed to turn 90 degrees. However that video made it look very easy, with my car it was not! Mine would not turn but at least I knew how far to had to turn!
One poster said he was ready to use C4 explosive!
As I have with my 25+ mods, I made a PDF to show what I tried, what didn't work and a pic of what you're up against. Should help but my car muist have had larger pins since I also had to use pliers to get it back on. Suggest if you find that is an issue sand them when you have the shift **** off.

Vise grips, a small towel to protect the chrome. I did this and it worked. Only problem now is the leather sleeve won't stay up around the chrome ring. There is supposed to be some type of attachment that holds to boot to the ring. Not sure how to fix this?

This..

The leather is held to that plastic chrome trim piece with two tiny staples. They come out very easily. Best fix is to take the shift **** off, then pop the entire boot off. Turn it inside out and use picture hanging wire to secure it to the chrime ring. There is a groove that the wire will fit in. Turn the wire with pliers until tight and cut off the extra. This worked perfectly for me.

Guess I was lucky! That didn't happen to me. Will update my PDF with that caution.
Thanks
