Default Would installing this lessen clearance?

I've used these before, super convenient if you change your own oil.

Would it lower the clearance or hang up on anything if installed?

I feel more secure with the oe system, not hard to remove and there are 2 on the Z51. Something to leak if it fails and yes, it may hang too low.

Fine on a base car, no on a z51....I have a quick valve on the c7.....search for my posts for part nos....6000 miles, no leaks, works great. This mod is not about making the opening and shutting easier for an oil drain, it's the ability to direct it through a tube and not spill a drop for places like condo buildings etc.

Some light aircraft owners have a similar oil drain valve on their aircraft engine. Not mine - SCARY.

I've had one on my '67 small-block roadster since 1993, and no problem whatsoever. It works very well, never a leak. It's very convenient.

The issue with clearance would be that the lever protrudes, so you'd need to ensure that during installation you can tighten it so the lever doesn't stick downward, maybe by adding a second gasket.

It doesn't stick down at all. Fumoto #F107S....yes using 2 Gaskets is a bit better. The white nipple here pops off so everything is even above the bottom of the oil filter.

Seems like even if it is not the lowest part of the car, something could kick up and cause the valve to open or break off...
For once or twice a year oil change, not worth the risk.

Is really that hard to unscrew the drain plug on a LT1? I get the first 4 changes at no extra cost.

If that happened I doubt this company would still be in business.

Not really, but it's a bitch to torque that back every single time. and this makes it much easier.

I have one of these on my truck and I have never had an issue with it. Nothing is going to hit the level and open it as the locking ring keeps it down and it is spring loaded so it stays closed. You would have to sheer it off for it to leak. I might put these on mine so I don't have to worry about the drain plug (cross-threading, re-torque bolts) and it will be much less mess when changing oil
