2016 EYT -- chrome bar delete
However, working on assembly lines myself, I can tell you that new options often don't have the proper assembly instructions to the line workers even though they are order-able by customers. As a result, they get fixed initially in post-assembly quality test area and that in itself starts the process of fixing the line instructions.
It could also be that there are correct instructions but they don't have the 'chrome delete' part in inventory, so rather than stop the line or prevent those cars from being produced, they are making them with the wrong part intending on fixing it later when the supply chain catches up with demand. That's what also happens sometimes in my business although this is rare - if we don't have supply of the options needed we'll put those options on constraint to keep them from being ordered in the first place.

This is exactly why car manufacturers do a two week quarantine on new model start ups. It allows them to correct these types of issues. I am confident when you get the the museum for pickup the car will have the correct grill.

I understand the owners who do not want the chrome bar but why the hoopla over a problem that really does not yet exist.
Since I am having R8C, I am not picking it up at my dealer. The dealer I bought the car from is on the other coast from where I live. The incentive for the dealer where I live to correct the problem after I drove from BG to Seattle is going to less than receptive and it certainly isn't going to be quick.
So, if I can raise awareness to GM about the issue, which has happened, then I save myself a boatload of time in the process and hopefully save a bunch of others a boatload of time. For those that like to spend time getting things resolved after their car is delivered, please stop reading this thread.
FWIW, I had raised this issue to my purchasing dealer (beginning of the thread) and to Shane at NCM. You all saw the response from GM above. Shane contacted me a couple minutes ago telling me that the issues would be resolved at the factory before the car is delivered to the dealers (or R8C in my instance).
What isn't know if that means an additional delay or not.
Fully understand why this might be immaterial to you. I have to schedule flights with my car and get back in time for work, so I have a very tight window of scheduling the R8C. So, it's actually a pretty important thing for me to know about BEFORE it hits R8C.
Last I knew reading a thread and determining if the conversation was relevant or not was not a perquisite to participating on this forum. I look forward to conversing with you on other threads on the forum where we both share a common interest.
I will keep updating the thread with information as I get it for those that have ordered EYT for the sole purpose of having the chrome bar delete and will let you know if my R8C is delayed because of it and if it really shows up corrected.
Take what you want, leave the rest.
It sounds as if it was a broadcast issue or a supplier issue. Either way, I'm happy it is being taken care of.
Are you driving your car home from the Museum delivery?

Kevin - Very well stated (much more diplomatic that my patience allows)
